Default A Big Weekend Coming Up

Well this is it, some of you heard me talking about this before and some of you even donated to this cause. This weekend is the Larry DeAnda Memorial race.
First, I want to personally thank those of you who donated funds so that I could retrieve the data off of a failed Hard Drive that contained photos needed to make this happen.

At the last race and this one fans and fellow riders are signing a 20” x 30” print of Larry doing what he loved best racing, after this weekend it will be mounted, framed, and presented to the family.
A side note almost a month to the day after Larry’s death we lost another member of the VDTRA community, Randy Fulford dies from cancer at the age of 58. He was a sponsor of the #6 race team and “Wild Will Kelly”. Interestingly Randy and Larry grew up together and still lived in the same neighborhood and they always pitted next to each other at the races.
I decided to go ahead and do a 20” x 30” print for his family as well and it too will mounted and framed and be presented to Randy’s family.

Saturday’s race will not only be the final race of the season it will be a Memorial Race for Larry. There will also be a fund raiser for his family which is in dire financial need. This will include a BBQ supper and auction to be followed by the presenting of the first place number plates to this year’s winners.
On Sunday there will be an Outlaw race (unsanctioned) typically this weekend brings out a lot of the big guns from the GNCC, the Waco 1/2mi is considered one of the finest in the nation and considering it is a club track that is saying a lot.
Last year Suzuki sent factory riders, Danny Eslick #64, AJ Eslick #16, and may other GNCC riders came out as well. Jason Tyer #12, Willy McCoy #59, Jimmy Wood #37 to name a few.

If you live within driving distance of Waco please make the effort to try to get out to the Track on Saturday and/or Sunday.

The gates open at 8:00am
Practice starts at 10:00am
Races are at 12:00pm
The cost is a whopping $12.00 per day or $20.00 for both. That includes full access to the pits.

Larry racing Dick Ford, while this isn't my best shot it is the most meaningful

One of my most sought after images, the tank on Larry's bike

Randy Fulford of Fulford Racing

The bike he is on is the Suzuki TL 1000 that Jason Tyer rides on the GNCC. Jason's dad "The Prez" is also part of the same gang that grew up together in Irving Texas that included Larry and Randy. Jason is the one who painted the tank on Larry's bike.
