Two people were killed Friday afternoon after a pickup truck lost control on a rain-slick road and hit a couple that had pulled over their motorcycles to put on rain gear.

The accident happened on westbound I-64 at the Bath-Montgomery County line at about 1 p.m.. Police say three couples on six motorcycles that were part of a larger group had pulled over, and that the driver of the truck crested a hill, noticed the bikers on the side of the road, and tried to move into the left lane.

However, there was a car in the lane, and he overcompensated back to the right and hit two of the motorcyclists.

The other four cyclists were not hurt. Police say they were all part of traveling group from Oklahoma.

The identities of the deceased couple have not been released.
