Default New S40 rider, had a spill

Just got a 2006 Suzuki S40. Learning to ride. Had a good first spill yesterday, just scrapes and minor cuts. Even a 350 lb bike hurts when it lands on your left leg. Broke a tail light and bent the left foot rest. I also left the lights on after picking up the bike. Now the battery is dead and i can't get access to the terminals. Not so easy to get at the battery. anyone know how to do this? Help I want to go riding today

Welcome, Jimmy. Your owner's manual should get you to the battery, but I'm sure someone here can help shortly.

Does the seat come off with a key operated latch?
That's usually a good place to start. Even if the battery is not directly accessable right under the seat, you can often see it with the seat off and then the next step for access is usually pretty obvious (like removing a side cover).

To remove the battery, you have to remove the seat, remove the left frame cover, disconnect the negative terminal, remove the tool box cover and tool kit, remove the tool box body and the lock bracket, disconnect the positive terminal and breather tube, then wiggle the battery out.

Sorry to hear about the accident, can you post some lessons learned from your accidents? Hope you feel better soon.

what robert said about battery removal. i highly recommend that you purchase a trickle charger that comes with wires that you can leave attached to the battery so that you do not have to remove it from the battery box in order to charge it.

Default s40

I also am having a similar problem - It is obvious that the battery is under the seat, but I can not get the seat off in a manner that seems good for the bike. Any ideas?

The seat removal is very easy, all it requires is a phillips screwdriver and the removal of a couple of bolts.
