Default 2008 Goldwing

Local dealer got two in last Saturday. No test drive, but I was able to sit on them. It seems to me like the driver seat has been moved a little forward - I felt kinda cramped on it, and I'm only 5'9". I do like the fact that I can flat-foot on it when stopped when it is in it's lowest position. My wife got in the passenger seat and said it was so comfortable she'd probably sleep most of the time.

The red one is beautiful though!

I was in Spokane last week on my way to Canada for a vacation. As I was walking into the hotel a guy and his wife rode up on a red Goldwing. We talked for a while, they were on a trip and had done about 200 miles that day, and were planning another 250 the next day. That was the first time I looked at a Goldwing up close and was impressed at the overall size of that machine. But what a great looking motorcycle.

Having seen videos of high performance Goldwing riding I'm even more impressed.

They are nice but I was in the market over the last year and I chose an ElectraGlide classic fro the same reason that Deno mentioned. I am 6 ft tall and I felt cramped on it. It seems like they moved the seat forward a little. After riding the C50 for 17000 mile aI am partial to running boards. I rode an 2001 and two 2007's and they are the same. Nice but boring. The HD does vibrate a lot...kind of like paint shaker but once you hit 1500 rpm's its smooth as silk.

I was not comfortable on the Electraglide either. I don't like the seat rising up in front like that - it felt like it was pushing my, um, "stuff" up!

I don't see it as a motorcycle, I see it as a two wheeled car. Pardon me, but I can't see why anyone want to buy such a thing. Yes it's comfortable... but can it ride ? nope... Buy a convertible instead, it's a real car and can carry more people, and you will get wind in your hear.
A Goldwing is not a motorcycle IMO... It's a Gizmo...

Well, again I feel the need to mention Yellow Wolf on the Tail of The Dragon. Granted the Goldwing is a big motorcycle and not designed to be a high performance machine, but in the hands of someone with the right skills it can be impressive. I suppose there are not many people who can ride one like that, and more so, not many who would even want to. But anyways, I'm impressed.

Try going to YouTube and doing a search for Yellow Wolf.

Let me know what you think.

United we stand, divided we fall.

If we can't relate/accept our brother/sister riders, than how can we expect non riders to.

It's OK for you to like your bike, it's even OK for you to pound your chest, and make like your some hot shot rider, but bad mouthing someone elses ride, well that's just wrong.

They're all that way - I guess that means the Electraglide model is for women.

Do you want a motorcycle, or a Cadillac with two wheels?

A more compact bike is more - you see ?

I'm riding a motorcycle because it's fun, not that it's comfortable. For transport I use a car, with four wheels and a steering wheel.

Our country is so big and we like travel by bike on long trips since we have longer summer and no winter in some places. I don't think some one buys a GW to go to the corner store for milk.
I just did a 1300 mile trip with my wife and a GW would of been nice.

That's fine, we expect you to like your own bike, what I don't like is to hear someone bash something, just because it's different from what they like,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,not in this post,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but a few post's back.

I returned to motorcycling this summer after being away from the sport for decades. I bought a Suzuki S50 which is a great bike and perfect for me. It has kind of a chopper look which reminds me of the bikes years ago that I wanted to buy. But during the summer I've seen a lot of different shapes, sizes, styles of motorcycles available now and have become more appreciative of the different aspects of the sport. I think there is room for everybody.

The last few months has been great fun, I should have done this sooner!!

anyway, now that the trolls have come out to play, maybe we can get back on topic.

I sat on the 08 Goldwing, and while a fantastic bit of engineering, I didn't like the seating position. Maybe its just such a difference from my M50 with fwd controls is all. But my feet are under my butt pretty much AND my knees are almost up against the fairing. The dealer said to cut out about 2.5 inches of foam, but damn, who the hell is this thing made for then?

Are the former generation Wings any better in this dept?
