I guess you could look at it a couple of ways. Which one do you want to ride on the track because you just plain want to,,, or,,, which one is cheaper to crash?? Yeah, I know, nobody sets out to crash, but poop does indeed happen.

True words. It's still funny when you see people take the equipment to serious. What do they say ? 80% rider 20 % bike. I actually saw people in my groups using lap tops and tire warmers. Jeesh, just lean the bike against the trailer and take a break.

Take the SV. Spend time getting your suspension sorted out a bit before going to the track. There are links in "nutshell" for that.

Then, while at the track, find a suspension guru and have him/her help you get that thing dialed in as good as it can before really opening it up.

Would've been great to see some video of this, in the cold winternights I'm wondering about these days, what's it gonna be... I'd really love an old gixxer too, but I real can't find one that's not in bad shape. Looks ain't that important, but if I have to totally renovate it, I tend to give up. I got 9 thumbs to work with, sooo ehh

I think both Tab and 'nut would be the first people to tell you to go with a newer bike. Parts availability alone would dictate newer bikes for the track.

It's getting pretty hard to find stuff for those old girls. Tab and 'nut just ain't right. They've been running the 1st gen gixxers so long their addicted or have some weird attachment.

I believe 'nut spent more on rebuilding the 1100 than it would have cost for a modern used race prepped bike. Tab bought his brand new in '86 and over the years has spent 3-4 times it's sticker price in build ups and mods.

Pretty freakin' cool though !!

Don't quite know why some of us are like that, but we are out there. Bikes, cars, boats, planes, the list just keeps getting bigger. Yeah, if you don't have that affliction, go with something newer.
Only once in awhile does the situation turn around enough, so owning and loving something old works out really well. Look at american muscle cars, and vintage Harleys, as two quick examples. Pretty good aftermarket support for them.

Yes, I did get back in one piece!

But no pics.
I'd love to have pics taken but there is nobody there to take them!

Hmmm...I'll need to ask somebody to come with me to take pics...
I have a friend who is a photographer. I wonder if he'd be interested for a free lunch.
Well, he doesn't have to stay for the whole day.

Oh, BTW, this photographer friend of mine had his first baby boy last year and he named his son "Kay"! He said he named him after me!! Cool!
So now I'm his god mother.
(Kay is NOT a usual boy's name though.....)

Maybe I can ask him.......

That's Tommy Lee Jones' character from Men in Black.

Funny movie.
