| No Significant Other ![]() | If all they offered in the market was these two, I'd still ride them. Hell, you might point and laugh but, I'd still be smiling. Put on the Darth Bandit leathers and go knee dragging on the scooter...now that would be fun!!

| I should know better than to have an opinion that everyone wouldn't agree with. There are older metrics out there, but not many that I see other than riding to work. I've owned numerous metrics and they ran reliably, but they were until recent years like computers, outdated and upgraded a year after purchase, therefore for the most part, replaced not rebuilt or restored. I have no problem with any motorcycle manufacturers. I would ride any of them. My response was to, Harley and Honda relying on their name and not doing anything new. My opinion was that very little from anyone is NEW. It is all building on something already out there. Harley, Honda and BMW aren't doing anything new either, but they are not sitting on their hands. They are adding competitive things to their lines just as much as anyone else. These 3 for the most part chose to ignore the crotch rocket market and indeed concentrate on a different clientel. I just stated a fact that most people buying Harleys and BMWs and Gold Wings are older and more able to afford them. Therefore that is the market these companies have concentrated on. I don't see how anyone can interpret that as me being better than anyone, "The rest of the paragraph in the quotes is just plain snobbish......things like "we have the cash".....and "we are the market"......yeah...H-D riders don't think they are above other people at all...." But then, I insulted ya'll and get told I'm stupid, retarded, 1st grade and now a poser. Yep. that's me. I only average 18,000 or so miles annually on a bike. 9 metrics, 1 BMW and 6 Harleys over past years for over 1/2 million miles. Motorcycle Safety Instructor/Rider Coach for around 2000 students over the years. Yep, I'm a total poser and not intitled to an opinion so call me a whiny %%%%% behind my back if you like. Pretty easy to be all bad when you aren't standing in front of me, huh? Sorry ya'll think that way of me, but you win. I have riding to do and don't need the aggrevation. I'll be posing about 1500 more miles this coming Fri-Sun. You can keep your board. I just thought I'd try one but I guess my 1st greade eddikashion don't kut it. See ya on the road, if ya ever spend any time there. |

Wow. I don't think anyone called you a whiny %%%%%, and if they did, and posted such, that wouldn't be behind your back, if it was in writing. Terms like, "we have the cash", and "we are the market" is a bit arrogant. Where do you suppose the next generation of riders comes from??? And who cares how many miles ya ride a year. My newest bike has 17,000 in 21 months, and that doesn't earn me a thing. If you put on 1K of 30k a year, as long as you enjoy the miles, that is all that matters. That is the problem with most of these posts, the presume that what they ride is the best, or how they ride is the best, or being old and hard core, or new and daring, is the best! I'm kind of in between. I just turned 40, and own a metric cruiser. However, the two rides I would like to own someday would be HD Street Glide, and a Triumph Speed Triple! We all need to get over ourselves. I salute you getting out and riding. That may be best for you. But ride because you want to, not to prove a point. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy too many riders think they have to rack up tons of miles, in rain, in the dark, or in other situations they aren't ready for, or just plain don't enjoy, just to prove a point! Get over it, post some more, or don't. But don't post just to tell us ya won't post anymore. That is pointless. Come back with something more than that, or your choice to stay away will prove to be the right one! Ride safe, and don't take yourself so seriously. A lot of folks on both sides of the BS could stand to do the same. The "retard" sign is so old and lame, it should be gone, too. Ah well, back to my sunny day! I have a cage to wash, and I might even do some riding myself, IF I decide I want to, not just to prove how "hard core" I am, to anyone! (soap box securely stuffed back in garage, sorry to be so long winded!) | |

| I would sit and read all of these posts but then I would have spent the whole day here.. too much info to digest in one sitting. So all I can say is that here is my 2 cents.. Suzuki (IMO) is the best looking, performing bike out there. Harleys (IMO) I wouldn't whiz on if it was on fire.. Honda (IMO) is the second runner up to Suzuki the rest I dont care about.. Now.. group hug.. |

![]() I had a Harley. I loved it. I had a Honda. I loved it. I have a Suzuki. I love it. I don't reqret the bike choices I made, regardless of the brand. It all depends on what you, the individual, likes. There is always that guy that tells you why you shouldn't buy this bike or that. Or what is wrong with the one you have. I have one of those here. Of course, his bike has been down twice and he told me he needs to do $1,000 of regular maintenance every 3,000 miles. WTF? I just shrug and say better you than me. It cost me $18.50 for oil on my last maintenance.

| i don't understand how someone can pick a brand and say "that's the only bike i'll ever ride" mindless cattle for the slaughter. go ahead and eat up all the branding out there. i'd rather have a bike i like that i like to ride, as opposed to buying for a brand. hell... i like Hyundai

| Evey bike out there, is better than the others, depending on the situation, requirements, and personal fit. I have had several different bikes over the last 35 (crap 40) years, and enjoyed them all. A few, but not all, : Bridgestone 90, BSA 500 cc dirt Thumper, BSA 750 twin (an animal), & 750 Suzuki water buffalo,(nice touring standard) to my current B650 (best for me now). I love dirt bikes, and British Iron, but my body doesnt allow those anymore. I never rode a Harley, but I would like to. We all will (and do) go through phases. What's important now, was not years back, and won't be in the future. So pick a ride that trips your trigger for now, and enjoy Last edited by bat4255; 09-17-2007 at 12:25 PM. |

| Hyundai is actually kicking #@! right now... they're getting strong in the market. For motorcycles you should check out the Hyosung brand. They make a bike just like the SV650 and it's much cheaper... reviews so far say it's pretty solid for the price.

i had a 97 accent and sold it 9 years later... i bought a slightly used corolla in it's place the point is that almost all vehicles find a niche market... not 1 manufacturer is better than the other ... except for Yugo.. .they lasted 1 or 2 years here in canada... then again, somewhere in the world someone is driving one now Quote:
looks like a neat bike (hyosung gt650)

| Will all of you comedians in this thread stand up and take a bow, please. Thank you. If they took all of the motorcycles away from us, and all that was left was the bike that was the most hated pile of poop, I'd have one, and ride it, and tinker with it, and ride it some more. Even if it only made it a few miles each time. I'd still have to have one of those damn contraptions with a motor and two wheels. Don't know why, don't care either. Mine isn't bigger than yours, but it is mine just the same. So there! {BIG BRONX CHEER!}
