| Newbie | I went to a bike shop today in Brandon Florida to look at a GSXR750. The guy said it would be 10,600 out the door. Is this a good deal? Also, where can i get a rear seat for the thing? Cuz my girlfriend will kill me if she can't ride on the back. Also, is a GSXR750 a good choice or would one reccomend an R1? Thank you vary much for your time.

| Well, seeing as how this is a Suzuki forum, I doubt anybody will recommend the R1, but I could be mistaken... As for wether or not it's a good deal, it depends on how long you've been riding. If this is your first bike, then it's a horrible deal. You want to pay over $10,000 to kill yourself? If you've got some experience under your belt, then it's a fair deal, depending on the year. If it's used, then talk them down. Make sure your g/f wears gear on that thing!

| Hey bro, I used to live in Temple Terrace (East Tampa). Anyways, 10,600????? A GSXR1000 retails for 10,599. So check and see what all goes with that price. Is that tax and all? If so, thats about average price. Are they including helmet, gloves, jacket, etc? They may be able to work that in with your price and it not cost you any extra. The R1 also retails for about 10,599. What is your riding experience? Is this your first bike?

| Newbie | I got a 2002 YZF600R right now. I've been riding for about 4000 miles and want to upgrade. The price is after tax, tag, everything. I don't need a helmet cuz i got a 6 months old Shoie RF1000, a brand new Aria Quantum. I got a brand new Joe Rocket mesh jacket and Icon Titaniu knuckled gloves. So should i work the price doen cuz i'm not getting any free gear?

| The new '05s come out around October or so. So I would negotiate a lower price. Are you trading in the YZF? If so, keep that a separate deal until after you have a final price on the 750. Basically, wait until final price on the 750, then mention the trade, if thats what you are doing.

| And depending on where you are, the riding season is coming to an end before long.....shops have to pay for those bikes one way or another, either by keeping them or shipping them to another shop. And with the 05's coming out soon it could help get you a lower price so they can make room for the new models. Even without gear you should be able to get a better price.....and you'll probably get a better deal if you go straight out deal instead of trading. If you have the title to your bike you might be OK on the trade otherwise you can probably do better selling it yourself. |

| Consider yourself informed: 2004 600 dealer cost = $6,838 2004 750 dealer cost = $8,083 Assembly cost = $50-65 depending on dealer Now that you know what they pay, work from there. I bought my 600 for 7300...I thought margin was fair considering they don't normally deal in San Diego. With tax, license, and registration, I was OTD less 8093.16. Bike MSRP is 8099. |

| Clutch Cadet ![]() | Motorcycle MSRP's can be found on the manufacturer's websites when you look up whatever specific bike you're looking at. MSRP is always public information - dealers can't BS you on that. What you don't know is their cost. Always avoid paying full price - your bike depreciates the minute you sign the contract. And NEVER pay more than MSRP (if you HAVE to go that high). However, I agree with the above '05's are coming out. Unless you're really pressed to get an '04 THIS season, just wait another month or 2. That's when dealers start having all their big sales. My $.02
