Well, most of us guys have been there in one way or another. Unfortunately for you, so had he. Your only 16 years old. I bet he knew some kind of shiznit was up.

You got busted straight up and honest. You will learn from this experience, young grasshopper, and be better equipped to deceive your foe's in the future.

Just make sure you and your friends stay away from bikes and cars when you do.

I'm torn,,,,,,,, the father in me says, that's pretty much what I would have done,,,,,,,,,, maybe a little different, I would have waited till you got back, and asked you to open the bags, or leave if you didn't want to. The Biker/citizen, in me wants to bust him square in the chops.

You did wrong,,,,,,,,,,,,,he did wrong,,,,,,,,,,,,,maybe you should just call it even.

One thing is for sure,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,(assuming you don't bust him in the chops) you will look back on this years from now, and have a good laugh at it.

The fact that he ganked a bunch of your liquor would make me even more angry.

First of all, he committed a crime by looking through and pilfering your stash.

Second of all, if he was concerned with not letting you drink and ride, he's getting in the way of Darwin's observations about nature.

Third of all, how would he like it if you went through all his stuff and unilaterally decided what he should be able to own and shouldn't.

If I got busted with that much booze at 16, I'd be happy if I wasn't made to spend a day digging holes to fill in other holes.

I don't know about your state but, if you were pulled over here, you would've been arrested and charged with " minor in possession " and " Minor transporting " and if any of the seals were broken " Minor in possession / driving with open container "

If it was one of my buddies dads from the day, I'd count myself lucky to loose the booze and a weekend of chores and prey he didn't rat me out.

Yeah he broke the law... but so did you.. there was a story on CNN the other day about this crackhead lady who called the cops because that crack she just purchased wasn't real crack, and she wanted the police to arrest the guy or help her get her money back.. she just got arrested. hahaha

i agree and i don't

i was 16... i know how that is... i would have been PISSED if he did that.

looks like the father is just a snooper. could be his own son made him into that kind of person (being over-protective) or maybe not.

that he dumped the bottles and not kept the liquor outright... maybe he's a reformed alcoholic?

the father could have just called the cops and the cops would have dumped it too.

father could be an over-bearing type, or one that had problems himself and doesn't want to see his son go through it.

what you should really do is talk to the father and ask why he dumped it. no emotional yelling or anything, just ask why, very calmly and try to get an honest answer as to WHY the father did it.

i dunno... i remember being 16 and my dad bought me a case (24) of beer because it was a highschool bush bash for the aftergrad (quebec let you out early )

1) he knew i wasn't driving as i didn't have a driver's license and we got a bus to bring us to the bush bash
2) he trusted me. he had caught me drinking a few times before, but we talked openly about it and he knew where i was in life. he was there too
3) he knew i would have gotten beer of liquor from somewhere else and i guess he thought beer was safer than liquor

i'd say be an adult and communicate with the father directly.

btw, that is a lot of booze for 2 people. 13 oz /person is a lot. 3x40oz is a boatload

hope you had a lot of mix... drinking all that straight would make you go blind

you don't need to ride a motorcycle either, but i'll bet you want to

drinking is part of growing up. knowing your limits of drinking, separates the boys from the men.

ie: you don't need to stagger and puke and not remember the night...
most teens are like that... then they grow up.
(i wound up in the hospital from drinking 2/3 of a bottle of vodka in about 30 mins)
yes i was dumb, and i started drinking when i was 15 or so... now i don't drink much... just socially

I, too, have had the unpleasant experience of alcohol poisoning at a young age. I started drinking when I was 15. It started with a 6-pack here and there in soybean with the other teenagers from my part of town. It continued progressively up until almost a year. I never touch the stuff now.

FWIW, I would just let it go. Count yourself lucky that he didn't involve the cops or your parents and leave it at that. You can get more booze. Talking to him's only going to answer a question that you <basically> already know the answer to.

Somewhere along the line, everyone has lost sight of the fact that the father committed a crime before even being cognizant that there was alcohol in the saddlebags.

That's like a cop entering your home, going through all of your stuff, then once he finds something, he uses that as an excuse for illegally entering your home.

oh i agree... what the father did was wrong.
question remains... what made him suspect? what made him do what he did?

too many unknowns.

Parents have a responsibility to stop people like me-I mean him, yeah, him-from getting away with stuff like that. If he had been clean, dude would have had a look, pinned the saddlebag back up, and he never would have know that hsi stuff had been rummaged.

Seven words of wisdom: Locking saddlebags.

I know, it's only 2 words . . .

I have always been "outspoken". If this happened at my house you would have had some tough questions to answer. I know from my own experience that no matter what your intentions are when sober, they can and will dramitically change when stupid drunk. Yes, the father did wrong by going through your stuff but consider yourself lucky that dad was not me. I would have given you hell, gotten directly in your face and demanded your keys to make sure you did not kill yourself or someone else. Maybe you would have gotten the dumb idea of going 2 up while plastered with my boy. If you did not die during this excursion I would fill your life with pain. Anyway, thats my rant, I am sure that you are a great kid and thankfully you are posting today. I wish you well and if in my town please stop by and lets ride!!! Sober is a good thing on any number of wheels.

Hey Brian, maybe you think us old farts are coming down too hard on you. But we have lived life and have a few things to say. I still have nightmares of a very stupid time in my life when I was 18. Drugs; pot, coke and a lot of booze. I was high as a kite on speed. Doing 100+++ on interstate 8 in San Diego. My drugs decided to wear off at a really bad time and I was coming down fast and hard. Heart pounding, my whole body shaking and I seemed on the verge of blackout. Why I am not dead many times over only God can give you that answer. That was my wake up call, I really should have blacked out dumped the bike and died at that high speed with zero gear. We are just trying to show you the light or the straight path. I enjoy a beer at times but I also enjoy riding so much that when I do drink I realize that I cannot do what I enjoy most, well maybe doing the nasty with the wife is better than twisties. Anyway, I am hard on my kids and myself simply because I realize the zeal that can be enjoyed sober is so much better than giving into a stimulant that can and will eventually cause you to do something really stupid. I have experienced the excess of stupid due to my weakness with drugs and booze and I am grateful for my life and yours. Sob, sob, cry cry. Can we have a group hug??? NOT!!
