I for one would like to start a forum-wide boycott of this thread. It's received the most posts of any thread since I've been here, and all because she's a hot girl with a nice ass who rides a motorcycle and lives in Ital...

<Ahem>
Nevermind.

Nut, now try to follow the labial:
I was just trying to tell you that it's not me trying to attract men with my pics. In fact I've posted both pics "in action" and pics of my autie-face, just because it's pretty normal in real life to know how people looks like, mostly if you're talking to them. I did because I believe we are still human being, even if beyond a monitor.
So, I was just trying to point out that is not me, but your male-mate reaction. I never complain about that (as that dude said, I'm old enough), but, please, don't complain with me. They could have commented the other pics. That's what I wanted to tell you making you notice that I posted different pics, but they commentend just the avatar ones. I wasn't disappointed by nothing, it seemed that you were. I hope I get to explain my point.

I was just stating my opinion on the subject. It was not directed at you personally.
This is definitely my "I don't get it" day, but honestly it was hard not to take it personally, and yes, I felt offended. Are you really sure that this misunderstanding was only my fault?

Switching to most interesting things:

Quote:
Standing on the pegs can waste a lot of energy if there is no purpose for standing on them (i.e. getting ready for a transition or pushing yourself up on the bike exiting a corner).
All you says makes a lot of sense to me, but:
1. at 240/250 km/h I was just trying to be as 'flat' as I could and possibly getting repaired from the 'wind'. The only way to get this was not-sitting. I guess with my new gixxer I will get more air protection and the bike seems a lot more front loaded, so I won't need to do that.
2. a friend of mine (racer of the SBK italian championship, did a couple of world SBK races) told me to NEVER sit and always stand on the pegs...he said he would put thumb-taks on my saddle (right word?) to make me learn that.

Quote:
Going to a race school might shed some more light on what you can do to improve.
That's definitely right. Many people think they can learn everything by themselves, but it isn't true if you are a beginner, cause you're not aware of what you're doing. I took a couple of classes (they're quite expensive...) but they were more riding in a track classes. They said I'm not good enough to take a race class Will try in october after more training (my times are getting 2 secs lower every track day...easy to improve when you're very slow! ehheheh)

Quote:
Of course, I am always learning. I have a lot more to learn. Everyday at the track is a chance to improve. Always seek help from someone else at every track day.
Nice attitude.
I've many racers friends and even if they are really fast, there's always someone faster, they can win the Italian Champ. but then in the world champ they don't manage to arrive more than 6th...
Unless your name is Valentino Rossi, there's always something more to learn (and I bet Valentino would tell us he still has to improve...I personally hope he won't!...for the sake of the entertainment!)

ciao, Janis

No, I'm pretty sure that one's special!
Of course! Sorry for my being cynic...that's me when it comes to babies.
Maybe because I don't have one?
Maybe because I'm just a non-married tart aunt biker?

ROFL!
You're kiddin, but I was about to ask to lock this thread...I think there were a couple of nice subjects that deserved to be expanded (women racers and how men react to them, position on the bike while riding) and instead they lay here, and maybe some potentially interested folks will never partecipate.

He is right. However, there are a lot of other things that I think should be focused on first aside from keeping your butt off the seat. It takes a lot of endurance to get there, and can cause you to focus on that rather than braking techniques, learning shift and brake markers etc. I know that a lot of GP racers do the same thing (off the seat).

I guess it depends on the bike and your skill level. I do it sometimes, but not for a whole race. I'm too fat to keep my ass off the seat for that long!

OK. Forget that it happened. I'll edit the post out. We'll start over. I'm sorry for offending you.

I got your point and you're right. Nontheless I think not sitting helps me also when it comes to breaking cause it makes me use my legs to stay there (on the bike I mean instead of being ejected) and not (only) my arms, which is good...I think...at least I feel it's the right thing.
The only races I did were very short (for example in Valencia, just 8 laps) so...no endurance needed. I guess I would sit more on longer rides.
I smoke a lot (unfortunately) so I go out of breath before I go out of strenght

Good one soad.
Between you and me: I like this guy. He gets everyone on nerves because he doesn't use smiles, but he's hilarious to me.
Still don't know when/what answer to him, but really appreciate his way to communicate. He knows exactly what words to use (isn't 'yurp' a genious touch? I figured G. Bush saying that!! ahahaahah) to induce a reaction.
Please, never kick him!

That's great! What is most comfortable for you is what you want. If that is the case, you are really lucky there. Most riders I know can't do it.

We do sprint racing here in No-Cal. 6-8 laps per race, depending on the track. We have an annual endurance race as well, usually in October. Other clubs in the US do more endurance racing, like the CMRA for example. I have done 40-45 minute sessions on that old 1100. Talk about being TIRED! I was sick too the last time I did it.

I also did some 40-minute sessions on my '87 750 chasing down a couple of GSX-R 1000s at a track day last year. It was 115-degrees Farenheit. I was also running Dunlop D-220 tires (uugh) on the original 18" wheels. I was tired and exhausted at the end of the day. Track temp had to be close to 150-degrees Farenheit. I smoked the tires in three sessions.

Well, the more you are out there, the more you will relax, and learn breathing techniques that will let you ride longer and faster. Some of our fastest club racers here are chain smokers. No biggie.

Soad I love you the way you are. PLEASE never use smileys anymore!
I hate smileys, but life is much easier using them...that's why I gave up, not a good reason for you to do the same.
In aswer to your questions (didn't think you really wanted me to answer)...the main make here in Italy is Ducati, followed by Aprilia (that also produces motor scooter...bleah!) Motoguzzi, Laverda and others.
Motorbikes and cars are a big deal here in Italy and it would take a long time to properly answer your questions....one day I will post something about italian bikes (some of them are just marvellous) and their history...not today thought.
Ferrari are very expensive but people here do drive them (and show off a little), they definitely don't keep them in garages! I guess Italians like Ferraris just like every single sane person in this world!

ciao, Janis

p.s. never ask an Italian about French products! ehehhehe Anyway I don't know a single french bike!

ok i will never sue smileys again, except for funny stuff. do you think ferrari's are too expensive? because i wouldnt want to pay 659k for a ferrari enzo and have a hayabusa beat me. and if you dont rwally want a hayabusa, you could always get a 120k ford gt. man, i love thems. i LOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE the way a ferrari f50 looks, reminds me of a bull nose, i think you should be able to have a really big ring to stick in the holes. that would look real nice. i also like the way the aprilia rsv factory front looks too. and i saw some moto guzzi on killboy.com (check it out, its about people that snag pictures of people at deals gap) it reminded me of the bike in driv3r.

You can always tell a Euro, because they say motorbike. Not motorcycle. Ahhh the differences in cultures I guess.
