| Hey everyone, I need some help picking some new gear to replace the destroyed stuff in my get-off. So far I have: Teknic Tuscon Leather Jacket Planning to get: Scorpion Exo-700 Helmet, with Tinted Visor Need help with: Gauntlet Glove (waterproof)~$50 Budget Overpants (waterproof w/liner)~$100 Budget Boots (need to be waterproof also)~$75 Budget For the gloves I was going to get some Kobe Dragon Gauntlet gloves, but I wasn't sure if they are waterproof or not. No clue where to go for overpants. As for the boots, when I got in my wreck last month I was wearing some Magnum full workboots and they held up very well, protected my left ankle from some mighty roadburn. Thanks for the help! I'll be using the gear for daily commuting in the fall, and then as far into winter as I can manage. |

| Hi MaviGSXR, You're going to have a hard time finding waterproof MC gloves in that range. I went to the dollar store and bought a pair of industrial rubber gloves and just pull them over my regular riding gloves. As far as over pants, I use TourMaster Venture pants, I don't use the liner as it then makes it too tight to pull on over my dress pants. It doesn't matter though, I ride year round and have ridden this way in temps down to 18°F. My commute is 45 min one way. These pants start to get hot around 70°. For boots, I went the cheap route also, FirstGear rubber overboots from the Motorcycle Accessory Whorehouse. $12.95 The TourMaster pants will keep you dry in a light rain, but I also carry a Nelson-Rigg rain suit for those real downpours. Hope this helps.

| I must agree about the gloves. I don't think you will find THOSE that are waterproof. What I do is buy regular gauntlet gloves and then apply leather oil, like mink oil. In fact it's the same as what I do with my leather suit. BTW, it not only makes leather more or less waterproof, it also keeps them soft. Without it, you know how leather tends to harden after it dries from getting wet. You should reapply mink oil once in a while to keep it waterproof. BTW, when applying mink oil, don't over do it. It only requires a VERY thin layer.

| I got a waterproof pair of gloves at Cycle Gear on sale for $38 back at the first of the year. So you can find them. I agree with Kay you have to keep applying oils to leather to keep them soft if you wear them in the rain. Now, if you just didn't have to squeeze those Minks to get the oil out of them

| No Significant Other ![]() | I just wear this. If it rains I just duct tape the joints to make it water proof. For those annoying "Lance Armstrong" bike riding wanna Be's, I'll tie the halberd securely across my saddle bags.

| Hmm... mink oil eh? I need to see if there are any local places with that, perhaps the local Harley shop? I bought a pair of AGV Sport Tornado Gloves. Still trying to figure out if I want to shell out $200 for leather overpants... OK, riddle me this, what makes "motorcycle footwear" different from say, workboots. Specifically these Magnum Boots USA ©2006 - Phantom Series - Phantom V-Lite 8" Waterproof Side Zip Insulated #5515 My last pair of Magnum boots seem to work pretty well. Another difference would be that they are made to bend more easily at the ankle. This may not be so important with cruisers but with sports bikes, the riding position will make it hard to ride with work boots. A lot of bike boots also have paddings or protection in the ankle area cuz that's where you might hit the ground if you experience a fall. Have fun choosing gear!!
