Default Am I ready for THIS?

Alright, long time forum surfer but first time poster.

I'm 31, 6'1" tall, 200lbs. My girlfriend got me into riding about 8 months ago. So I got a 1985 Honda Nighthawk 650 and I've logged maybe 1,500 miles or so. Prior to this, I'd never ridden a dirt bike or motorcycle at all, although I did do a lot of bicycle riding as a kid.

Never had a close call really outside of someone occasionally pulling out in front of me. Never dropped the bike as a beginner, in fact, I've never put a scratch on the bike period (knock on wood, thank God). About 3 months ago, I finally took the MSF and got my license. The course book had some helpful tips, but the hands on instruction was stuff I'd already learned and I laughed at how easy it was to dominate the 250 bike after riding a Honda 650 from day one.

I live in Cross Plains/Orlinda, Tennessee, where there's a lot of back roads and we prefer to have lazy Saturday/Sunday rides, with an occasionally longer trip. Wouldn't consider myself a tourer per say.

Now the QUESTION. Am I ready to handle a Yamaha Roadliner at 750 pounds and 1850ccs? I've read every review I can find and they CLAIM it handles like a standard. What do yall think? Could a big bike like that really handle like a standard? I like the way cruisers feel and sit and the leg positioning better than a standard. And I love the looks of this bike.

I come from the airplane world. I've seen plenty who have bought more plane than they have experience, and a low time pilot in a high performance airplane is a deadly situation. I don't want the motorcycle equivalent of this mistake, but see no real guidelines on this sort of thing.
