| well they pretty are the same. I like the gs500 more just because of the overall sound. The ninja sounds like its always running on no oil.Engine is loud and hollow sounding. To me. Plus i think the ninja is less $. It is aroudn here by about $800

| Seat Tester | the ex 500's or 500R's (what ever you want to call it) is a very nice bike.... they ride very smooth, the ergo of it is cruiser like enoughf where you could ride on it all day.. but sportbike enoughf where you can ride the bike with out chicken strips... the motors do sound funny, (I always think its a lawn mower untill I look up and see that its my GF that just arrived) but they are very strong, (power wheelies are possable) I have riddend both bike's and for as much as I hate to say it... Ide recomend the ex500 or 500r (pending on the year) for drivability/relyability resons. (I have only had carb problems that where easly fixed, and its a 1989 ex 500) but if you cant get past the looks that makes you want to say "hey the 80's called, they want there %%%% back" go for the relaxed gixxer looking GS 500, its still a nice bike, but doesnt handle neerly as well, and doesnt quite have the power that the ex 500 or 500R. I hope this helps.. BTW, the ex 500 from 1988 is the same motor, trans, and frame as present day 500R's, so if you want to save some money, you could look older.... hell I paid 800 bux got a 1989 EX 500 with 8000 miles on it http://www.brainerd.net/~houske/images/amanda's%20bike%201.JPG it now has silver wheels on it... and hew tires... later joe
