Default SHOEI RF1000 whistling sound.

...or any other full face helmet for that matter. When I ride with the shield fully open, I get the whistling sound of the wind passing in between the shield and the top of the helmet. At the exact point where I can lower the shield to stop the whistling, the edge of the shield is right in my line of sight. Anyone have any suggestions other than riding with the shield completely down? I like having it open when I am just cruising around the neighborhood no faster than about 30mph (and yes, even that slow I can hear it whistle!)

i get that too but ONLY if i have my head looking directly forward - like you would on a cruiser bike! hahaha!!! makes me glad i'm on a sportbike where the natural pose is leaned over - i can ride with it totally open and it doesn't whistle at all (it's a KBC VR-2, by the way). and if i want whistle or a gentle reminder of how much it would SUCK to be on a cruiser, i move my head more vertical!

try lowering your head just a tad. or get a helmet that has a shield that opens further.

haha! I've actually done that a few times as the M50 allows you to lean forward on it a bit & it does help. I still love my cruiser though!!! Damn you sportbikers and your "non-whistling" helmets!!!

I'm wearing a Shoei too but never had that even when I ride my Kawi, which is a naked bike.

Well, maybe it's because I don't ride with the visor completely open. When it's stuffy and hot, I might open it a little bit to get more air, but I HATE bugs and things getting into my eyes or face so I keep it more or less closed.

Also, even on my Kawi, I do have to lean a bit forward so I am hardly ever in a straight sit-up position. Maybe that's the reason too.

Close the visor? They aren't really designed to be worn at speed with the visor open...

I get that too,, but only when I ride the LC. On the Wee-Strom I don't get that. But you could always Snap off the face sheild and stow it in a bag while riding. Of course then you need sunglasses.
