Default Trail Ridge Road

Today, we finally did something I've wanted to do for years. We took the bike over Trail Ridge. The highest, continuous paved road in North America, Trail Ridge tops out at 12,183 feet above sea level. We road from Longmont, to Loveland, and then up the Thompson river canyon to a little town named Glen Haven. Then into Estes Park, and over trail ridge road to Grand Lake. Our ride totaled 200 miles. Once we got up in the canyons, I think the longest straight-a-way was about 500 yards Here is our route: Google Maps

The 1st picture shows the road we took to get to our vantage point, the trees in the foreground of the 2nd picture are all over 20' tall. The only bummer of the day, was hitting the construction zone But the areas they have completed are very nice, and by next year, the whole road should be redone
