Default Yup, I wimped out...

...and bought a cage. Found a 1989 Dodge Ram 3/4 ton 4x4 with less than 70,000 original miles on it- one owner, ac, cruise, am-fm-cd, 360 v-8, auto, shift on the fly 4 wheel drive, always garaged, full maintenance records from day one, not a dent to be found...a cream puff that was just too nice to pass up at any price, let alone the low price I paid. I bought it from the elderly original owner, who failed the vision test and can no longer drive. I won't use it much but figured it was just the ticket for hauling a couple bikes, or a big old trailer. I put new tires on it and took it to Charlotte NC and back Sunday, about 550 miles, and it ran/ drove like new.

A woman I am seeing (a real tree hugger type) gave me a hard time about the truck having roughly the same environmental impact (and MPG) as an aircraft carrier, while her mother said, "It looks like a Horace to me." So the truck has been named "Horace the Global Warmer: melter of ice caps and destroyer of worlds"
