I'm a new rider, and I bought a helmet with little go go on. I ended up with an HJC-15. Mostly because it was the cheapest full face that fit my head at the shop I went to. It seems comfortable to me, but I'm wondering if anyone can impart some wisdom on the differences... My helmet was ~$120. Other versions that looked identical were $175 (also HJC) and then there was a SHOEI (something like that) that was near $400. Is there a resource out there that can quickly explain the advantages/disadvantages of some of the more common full face helmets? A few of my key questions: 1. Is the protection level the same? All the helmets I looked at had both DOT and Snell, so I assume protection is the same. 2. How big a difference is the weight? I assume more $ = less weight. 3. Is there a difference in ventelation? 4. Is there a better chin strap than the D-rings? (I am quite slow with the D-rings...I know I'll get better, but I miss the click and go I have on my bicycle helmet). Thanks for your opinions! |
