| I am thinking of drilling 2 small holes in the sheild on my full face helmet. Purpose. Well, I want to allow more air in and stop the build up of fog. Does anyone think this is safe? If not, why?

| If it's fogging you're concerned about, why not just use some fogtech? I'd be concerned about the possibility of whistling or other noise with the small holes in the visor.

| ..drilling holes might weaken it and you will find it cracked someday. Try this instead.... I took a small piece of black plastic tubing and split it lengthwise... cut two pieces of that about an inch long...and pushed them onto the bottom edge of the plexi a few inches apart. You cant see em but the shield wont quite fully close...so I get a bit of air in....and that way you can take them off someday if you want a tighter seal. Hey ! maybe I should make a kit !! LOL Annie

| Top Gear ! Full Throttle! ![]() | I've gotta agree with Annie here. Any holes you put in the shield or helmet will reduce the strength of that part. It'll be more prone to breakage. Use some anti-fog stuff or get a lid with more ventilation. What kind of helmet is it, anyway?

Mine has a "notch" when you open it about 1/4-1/2 inch so that it will stay there. Open yours slowly; you might have one too.

| Thanks for the replies. I am going to get the plastic tubing and put it on the bottom. I never thought of doing that which is why I posted the question. As for the brand I have, its a HJC.

| Clunked into first gear ![]() | Glad you found it. I use my half helmet for summer riding but when it gets colder out I use my full face. I usually leave it at that 1/2 inch opening to defog, then close the shield all the way when moving more than 15mph or so.
