Default I'm missing...

my center stand? I just bought the bike a few months ago and just realized it doesn't have a center stand. Any suggestions on how to tighten the chain without a center stand?

Well don't feel TOO bad; not many come with center stands any more.

Have you not lubed the chain yet? You will have a similar problem with that.

What you probably want is a "wheel jack" that lifts the back wheel.
I need one too but, so far, been too stuborn (or stupid) to get it.

Jett , it is possible to adjust your chain without a center stand or rear stand . I did it a few times before purchasing my rear stand .

How do you get the bike up on a rear stand? Does it require two people? I found something called a " Tommy Jack" that looks like it will do the job for $60. Which would be better a jack or stand?

For a rear stand , U will need to get spools. These thread into the rear of your swingarm .....look at yours ....there should be a spot to screw these spools into. Then the stand will pick up the bike when U push down on the stands handle . Only requires 1 person for the stand . I know almost nothing about the "jack" , so I can't help U there. Let me see if I can find some pics ..............

There is the "poor mans" method.

Have someone about your size sit on the bike and hold it straight. Then measure the tension of the chain and adjust accordingly.

Actaully unless specified, bikes today have to have the chain adjusted with the rear wheel on the ground or simulated on the ground with a rear stand.
