| I am assuming most of you know by now that I need to have all my bikes lowered as much as possible (or practical) in order to ride. Well, my Kawi (a naked 750 replica of the Z1s in the 60s or 70s) had been lowered too. The other day, I went to my bike shop and as I was about to leave, the chief mechanic guy came over and said "well, you now seem quite comfortable riding that bike. Why don't you consider raising the suspension bit by bit, coz that way, you can enjoy the full potential of the bike". Well, I knew that lowering the bike did not bring about the best setting and that the bike had become one that was more difficult to ride (hard to turn especially). But in my case, I didn't have much choice. Being able to ride without fear was my first priority when I started riding three years ago and that was not easy when neither of my toes touch the ground when seated in the middle. So now I decided to raise it...bit by bit. Yes, it became a bit more difficult to reach the ground BUT, hey, I didn't have a problem and the bike turned like a different animal!! All I have to do is to be a bit more careful when I stop until I get used to this height. Once the bike starts rolling, it didn't make things change a bit except for making the bike a lot more fun to handle!! I am just sooooooooooo happy!! Now I plan to do the same with my other bikes. Raise it back a bit at a time as I get more comfy with the height. Give myself plenty of time to adjust and get used to the height. I love my Kawi even more now!! |

| You'll be OK as long as you don't go TOO far in the other direction and make it TOO high. Stopping next to a pothole can be a problem though. BTDT!

| That's really cool. I'm sure the bike will be easier to handle, and much more fun for you. I'm still amazed that you have the perserverance to do whatever you need to do, so you can ride... Good for you Kay...Ride On! |

I've done that too!!!!!! Surprisingly I managed not to drop the bike but I was holding the bike seat with my thigh! I had to almost fall off myself so that I could support it. But you are right. I need to stop at a "manageable" height. Quote:
In fact, I think it is BECAUSE I need to do whatever I can in my power if I wanted to ride at all, that I find the perserverance to keep going. I just love to ride so much that I wouldn't trade it for anything. | ||
