Default I went to yet another riding (track) school!!

I went to another riding school yesterday but this time, it was a track school.
Yup, with the same school as last time. All girls.

We used the short track (1km long) at the Tsukuba Circuit here in Japan.

What we basically did was braking, shifting down effectively (shifting up is easier) and the whole thing about turning as well as getting the best line to go faster.

What was nice was they took one section at a time and made us run that section over and over again until we got things right. Then we'd move on to another section, and another untill we learned the whole track.

Then towards the end, we did the whole course and compared our time from when we ran the whole course in the morning. The results were stunning!!

For each turn, we were also taught little tips like shifting body weight, how deep in the corner do you want to start braking or release braking, when to start the turn, etc. They also made a slalom course on the tracks with pylons where we had to run through without easing on the throttle. In other words, just by shifting body weight without slowing the bike down.

At the very end, we got to run the main 2km track and was told to adopt what we learned at the short track. I was a full 10am - 5pm day of running and I must say I was drained by the end but I sure had a lot of fun and learn heeps of good riding tips!!

We were separated into two groups so that while one group was using the track, the other practiced lower speed turning and again the 360 degree turns using pylons in the paddock area.

Huh. I didn't fall in the track course, but I FINALLY dropped my gixxer trying to do a 360 degree turn at the paddock. No major damage done. Just some scratches on my right fairing.
It was a shock as I had not yet dropped my gixxer, but I guess all this will make me a better rider. (OK, I'm trying my best to be positive)

I only have a few pics since I can't take pics while I'm riding but I'll post them anyway. Oh the last two are just pics of some cool leather suits that my friends had and they were both brand new!!

Kay, you ride so much at the school, do you ever get to ride on the street?

I'm sure we all appreciate the leathers though

Yes!! On the streets and mountains (twisties). In fact I ride those a whole LOT more than in schools.
I also join group rides quite often.
We were supposed to go tomorrow but the weather was not cooperating and we had to cancel.

We are just entering the rainy season here...which means there will be less riding for about a month.

No Kidding ,it would be great to be able to run like you do Kay. Great job! Nice photos too! Looks like they do more customizing of the suits there. Must be great fun and make some good friends on these outings.

Too bad about dropping your bike,Kay,you went and jinxed yourself saying the the other day you hadn't dropped it. I feel bad for you.
Didn't you have frame sliders on it? Just wondering, because I thought they would protect against something like that.

A warrior without scars does not exist. Just learn from what happened and make sure you don't repeat it.

Yup a lot of people get their names sewn on or have them totally customed. Mine is just a limited color version which was only available for a short period of time. It's probably more so with women as we have very little to choose from. A guy working for my leather suit manutacturer said the ratio of men:women suits are something like 200:1. So no wonder we have little choice.

Oh I have frame sliders! If it wasn't for the sliders, I would have cracked the whole fairing. I hated them but now I am so glad I had those.

As always, you are so right. Yup, I'd rather make mistakes and learn than be afraid of dropping my bike and not learn.
