| Well I had a great ride over the Memorial day weekend. I met my daughter and a few of her friends in Utah for a ride around Zion Nat. Park and the surrounding area. Four days and 1700 miles of fun, including one day 700 mile return trip from Springdale, UT to CO Springs. I have a new respect for those with an ironbutt patch. Also found a great new road UT-12 from Cedar City to US-89. Tons of linked S-turns that made practicing delayed apex turns as Hough describes in Proficient Motorcycling a lot of fun. One incident, going into a sharp right hand curve with poor visibility, a 35 to 40 ft pigwagon (RV) coming the other way decides he wants half of my lane. I pushed hard on the right side and tightened up my planned line, then accelerated hard to stand it back up before I got to the edge of the lane. Thank you Hough and MSF, gave me plent of time to comment on the drivers ancestry and contemplate a change of underwear. Traffic was lighter than I expected for a holiday weekend, even on the interstates, the effect of gas prices I expect.

| You dog. I'd kill to be able to ride like that on a whim. Good for you!

Actually the post wasn't so much to brag about where I was or how good I can ride, it was more of a counter-point to Wistrick's First ride/first crash thread. Just a reminder that someone crossing into your lane on a curve, while it will get the adrenaline going, doesn't need to be a disaster. Some reading, training, and practice, practice, practice make all the difference. I did manage to scrape my new Kury Iso peg pretty good on that right side though, I would have liked to see the sparks that left behind.
