| We all make mistakes, most of us aren't perfect. But I'm glad that your head is in the right gear and making the right moves. Stick to the plan man... don't ride with attitude, ride with common sense. Good luck! My first ride/accident occurred at home, when I had just brought the bike home after buying it. The driveway at my old residence was not in good shape, filled with large potholes and ran uphill as well. The driveway was so bad, we had to use 4WD just to get home, a distance of 250 feet from the main road. I stopped at the bottom of my road to contemplate my approach, and after deciding my route I proceeded uphill. But being fairly new when I got the bike, I misjudged one pothole, hit it, and down I went. The only damage suffered was a broken right turn signal assembly. Boy, did I ever feel stupid, but I learned my lesson and planned more carefully when traveling up that potholed driveway... Last edited by braddahmarv; 07-09-2007 at 02:01 AM. |

| Well guys I am finally healed up, the cast came off my thumb on Thur. and the shop called and said the bike is ready for pickup. The bummer is that the next MSF course I can take is not tell the last week in Sept. So by the time I get my class done the riding season will pretty much be over. Thank everybody for your support Dan |

| Good to hear you are healed. If nothing else you will be mentally prepared for the MSF course. You've learned a very important lesson in your first season, and you're right - at least you will see another one (I don't think anyone has ever died on an MSF course have they? ). Good luck Dan and hope to see you posting some of your experience and soon to be learned wisdom here on the forums.

| ... he will never make it to Sept... lol. maybe nobody has died, but my husband broke his foot badly in the MSF class... put a foot down and then dropped the bike on his instep in the tight slow turn test right at the very end. Needless to say he didnt get his certificate...LOL...

| Newbie | Hello, new here. I made a similar mistake back in 82 with a new bike and no expirence and laid the bike down doing 15 mph. Road rash on arms and hands taught me a painfull lesson about not taking a proper course. After I healed up I took the MSF course and have had no problems since. After a 21 year break from riding I got myself and new wide in a class to relearn skills needed to be safe and pain free. Take the class before you touch a bike and you won't regret it. |
