I am new to this great forum and to big motorcycles in general. In that note, I have what might be a dumb question, but oh well. By the way, I live in toasty Arizona. I just bought a '72 cb500 from a friend who moved out of state and couldn't take it with him. He rebuilt the bike from scratch, and left it mechanically sound, painted it, bought many new parts, etc. In any event, I am normally a scooter person (79 Vespa P200), and I ride daily to work, but I don't know much about big bikes. I was testing the Honda, and although I have not had any problems, I noticed that after riding, when I park and turn it off, gas starts dripping from a little tube underneath the engine, that appears to be coming from deep inside it. This happens after a few seconds of the bike being off. If I turn the gas off immediately after turning the bike off, no gas drips. So, is this gas the excess gasoline off the carb, do I have a problem, or what is this? I don't want to bother my friend to much, as he gave me a terrific price on it, and I know that he put a lot of time and effort into it. He is a very honest and diligent man, so I doubt that there is something wrong with the bike and he didn't tell me, but I just want to make sure without seeming to be looking at a gift horse in the mouth. I thank everyone for their time and their answers. Roberto |
