| May 2007 Member of the month ![]() | The SV650 is a great bike. It is quicker than Sh**. I rode my brother's girlfriends bike last week and I am telling you it is a fast little machine. P L E N T Y fast enough to do whatever you want to do. You will have more fun in the twisties and cranking around corners on that bike than one twice the price. Just remember that it is a quick bike and you must harness that responsibly. It can be very forgiving at time but just learn on her slowly. The maintenance on the bike is simple. I personally change my oil every 2500 miles. Just remember that when changing the oil to ensure the oil ring from the oil filter is not stuck to the engine. That being said enjoy the ride and take good care of her.

| Hehe, it's not that quick. My old '95 GSXR 750 accelerates quite a bit faster than this new SV. I'm still getting used to her. The stock pipe is so quiet I can barely hear it through the helmet. Her controls (clutch and throttle) are very loose and forgiving also, I can see why SVs are good starter bikes. Now I just have to find the money for a new pipe, lower fairings, fender eliminator, smoked windscreen and headlights, saddlebags, new jacket and helmet to match the bike.... Bah! |

| A LITTLE throttle heavy? I would think upper 20's should be the range of fuel economy you should be gettting. One way to truly verifiy fuel economy is to gas up, go on the freeway at a fairly steady speed until you're nearly out then gas up and return the trip. The operative words being STEADY SPEED. You ought to get over 30 mpg this way. I curious to know what was all "tuned up" anyway. |

The SV has 334 miles on her now. I'm loving the gas mileage and torque... but the seat is a bit more narrow and more uncomfortable than the one I was used to on the GSXR... I wish I had longer arms and legs... Later this morning I'll have to wash off the bugs from the front fairing... and both my helmet visors... had to switch when it got dark... Edit: OMG... I just read through the owner's manual... says recommends 87 octane gas... I've been filling her up with 93! Now I can save even more money! Last edited by Mavi; 06-16-2007 at 02:10 AM.

| You're making one helluva an argument for me to scrap the Yamaha an get the sv650. Or at least the vstrom. Think of all the money I'll save with the better gas mileage! The xs gets around 37 mpg, maybe a bit more. |

| Keep in mind I'm used to the GSXR throttle, it didn't take that much of a wrist roll to accelerate quickly... with the SV I'm rarely above 6000 RPM in the city... That and I weight about 125lbs.. |

| Guys... I think I might need your help... So Sunday the guy I bought the GSXR from gave me the Title... it said REBUILT on it... he never said anything about it being a rebuilt bike... so I went to the dealership today and gave them the title to the GSXR, and they seemed pretty peeved about it... I didn't know it was a rebuilt! The salesman who sold me the bike walked up to me as I was getting ready to leave and said "You know you're legally supposed to tell us that the bike was rebuilt right? That would have taken $500 bucks off the trade-in amount." my answer "I didn't know that it was a rebuilt either until Sunday when I got the title. As you can see the title is still in (the previous owner's) name." him "Alright, we'll take care of it" And I'm supposed to bring in the bike again on Thursday for the free 2" lowering... I hope they don't charge me for it now that they found out my old bike has been rebuilt... So, legally, what can they do? I don't wanna lose my SV or pay any more money than I've already spent... |

| May 2007 Member of the month ![]() | They would have to prove that you knew it was a rebuild. But big question is how long were you riding the Gixxer without it being in your name? One should always get the title upon purchase that way you have the three days to cancel the deal in situations like this. Then you could've told the guy you were mislead that the bike was not what he claimed it was. At the least by law a seller is supposed to disclose that it is a rebuilt/ salvage vehicle. If you buy a vehicle under the impression that you are buying a clean title then they are supposed to notify you of it. The problem I see here is you have a 50/50 shot at getting nailed on this. If you just bought the Gixxer and had not had time to receive it from the state then you might have a leg to stand on and they can go after the seller. If you were just complacent about getting the title and/or just didn't take the time to do so then you might get bitten on this. This would be a hard lesson to learn but I bet you would remember next time to get the title and ask prior to purchase if it had ever been wrecked or stolen. You may just have to fork out the extra $500.00 and be done with it.

Dont EVER, EVER, EVER pay minimum payments. Even if its only $25 extra... if you can pay double the payment, you will knock your total interest paid down incredibly! If your payment is $100/month... pay $150, or $200. It will not only pay it off in half the time,... say its a 5 year loan, you will not have it paid in 2.5 years, you'll have it paid off in less than 2. As far as the rebuilt title goes... legally they can do anything they want. I would stay quiet, say as little as possible, don't play dumb, admit your "in" a situation if they approach your further, and let them know how much you want to make it right. At the same token, if you have a bill of sale from the previous owner you bought it from, and IF it doesnt not say "rebuilt" on it, I would approach him as well. And let the dealer you just bought from that you are going after him. They will support you in it and may even help. Align them with you in the fight that whatever you might get out of the previous owner of that bike through it, you will pass on to them. This was at least they will see that you are putting your best foot forward on it.
