Default Speeding Motorcyclist

Yesterday police caught a speeding motorcyclist, when he ran out of gas.
He was caught by RCMP Air1, as the Police did not attempt a land chase but tracked him by air.

He was clocked at 250 KPH (155 MPH). He was also in a high speed race with another bike. No word about the other bike. Both were sportbikes.

He is 23.
New license
No insurance
Drunk

His Bike has been impounded and he faces a number of charges.

He was lucky he was caught.
He could have ended a dead man instead of a guy facing many charges.

250?? and drunk???
Was he suicidal?

i've only hit 220km/h and i was sober. and even then it was just a quick burst to pass some jackass traffic, then back down to a comfy 120km/h cruise.

i assume he was at least coherent enough to put on a damned helmet!

my bike can outrun many things, but a Motorola is not one of them.

Poor dummy. Well, maybe he'll learn before it's too late.

Friday I was putting fertilizer on a rice feild when I saw a group of six or seven sport bikes coming down the highway, as I was entering the feild for my last pass, I noticed one of the bikes started to pull away from the pack. When I check my HUD I was doing 132mph and I had a small lead on the bike, the next time I looked over my shoulder the gap was smaller and getting smaller fast. The last time I looked he was even with my wingtip and going by me at a incredible rate. It may have been dangerous but I was impressed.

I disagree - he is one lucky bastage! He is still alive, and not spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair.

Jim, that's what I thought too!
I also wrote that he was lucky.
He could have been dead or worse, could have killed somebody.

Riding under the influence is a dumb idea to begin with, not to mention the "liquid courage" factor (also known as beer muscles).

That’s pretty impressive for someone under the influence to keep the bike under control at that speed. Back when I was 18-19 and invincible, I got on a bike after a few too many and almost took out a street sign. That was the 1st and last time for that crap. Non the less the kids still a

At least he has the excuse that he had no idea he was being pursued.

Police started pursuits but called land pursuits off due to speeds.
So failing to stop for Police is one of many charges he is facing.

Today I was heading back to work, from working "in the feild", and saw this guy on a sport bike. We were on a major road that has 3 lanes each way. Traffic wasn't heavy but modorate, at first he was going with the flow. Then he went from the right lane to the middle to the left then all the way to the right in one move in a very short distance. After that he went back to the middle and was gone, and to my knowledge he was sober. I just thought to myself "that is what gives motorcycles a bad name".

This is a reprint from a Valley paper of May 3/07

In Chilliwack, B.C., a motorcyclist led police on an 11 kilometre, high-speed chase reaching speeds of 160km per hour. The motorcyclist (who held only a learners’ permit) was observed passing five and six cars at a time and speeding around blind corners. Police tracked the rogue motorcyclist using a traffic helicopter and eventually wrestled him off his motorcycle when he stalled his bike while trying breach a police roadblock.

The motorcyclist’s explanation? He was late for work.

I just learned from a friend of mine who has a police friend. He told me that over here, there's a rule that if motorcycles go above 180km/h to stop a pursuit because it's too dangerous.

I'm not sure if that good or bad because most motorcycles can go above 180km/h if they wanted to and that's like encouraging some crazy people to go faster if they wanted to escape from a pursuit.

Nevertheless, MOST people will stop if they have a police bike on your tail, I guess.

actually, kay, i think it's safer. if you're being chased, you'll likely to go even faster, putting even more people in danger. having TWO bikes (jerk and cop) going that fast is just too much. if they don't chase, the jerk isn't likely to go quite as fast. i think that 90% of the people would try to outrun a police officer and NOT stop if they're already riding that fast. if you stop, it's 100% guaranteed that you'll get caught, but if you try to outrun there is a chance that you won't get caught - so they take that chance.

strangely enough, i've been told (by people who have been riding for ages and are into the thrill of sport riding) that if i am speeding and see a cop, to gun it like hell and vanish, then resume riding normally or make an unexpected exit / direction change. mind you, i'm not one to speed THAT much, so i kinda listened but brushed it all off.

Well that makes sense too.
I once had a guy who's one of those crazy suicidal people tell me that the lazer systems we have on our motorways that automatically take pics of speeding cagers can be outrun if you go above 240km/h. That the cameras can't keep up with the speed. So his theory is that if you want to speed, you should go all the way and go above 240.

Now I REALLY think that is crazy.

But it shows that there are people out there who would go above 180 and 240 just so that they won't get caught.
I just hope that these people will wreck only themselves if they have to have an accident and not involve others on the road.

A 21 year old guy on a honda 600cc street bike was clocked on west dodge road here in Omaha yesterday running a quick 134 mph excellerating to 151 as traffic cleared, passing cars on the shoulder trying to get to work on time.

What better way to go if the unfortunate happend though......he was wearing a helmet-(nebraska law) and dress clothes.

Only 96 mph over?????

When they get a car at these speeds it does not get the same attention as a dumb motorcyclist!
