ahhh grasshopper, you have much to learn...

it's called a heal/toe shifter

to downshift, you do so normally, to upshift, you hit down on the back shifter

I wrecked on the on ramp from washington blvd to coliseum. They've since taken out that on ramp.

Yep know right where your talkin Been down St Joe center by the retirement home? Heading towards St. Joe Road is ROUGH!. Why they think caking on asphalt over a concrete road is a good idea, is beyond me.

Yea I live across the street from the retirement home. I used the bumps to calibrate the freshly installed Elka triple clicker. Tho before I had my suspension set up right, I was driving down the portion of St. Joe Center past Pierre's, hit a gravel filled channel, and put dents in both of my rims.

You would actually consider riding on a "fixed" rim ?? Not me.

Expand your search to other places.
I'm sure a dealer would be happy to get you one......$$$$$$ !!

Won't work on a sportbike. The shifter is forward of the pegs. Unless, you install forward controls on a sportbike. (That I would like to see.)

Or these. That way when you get hungry on the road, you could snack on the goldfish in the heals.

Just the other day, I was in my car, stopped at a traffic light and right in front of me is this cruiser rider who can't even flatfoot with just one foot while keeping the bike straight up. I felt really sorry for him/her.

rule of thumb... don't buy a bike that can't fit you!

Is this the proper way to do this... I feel like an idiot.
I understand your problem. I am 4' 11", ride a Suzuki Savage, and when backing up on even the most minimal incline or on uneven terrain, I usually need assistance. This is a bit embarrassing, but I guess it is better than dumping the bike all together...lol When riding alone, and I am very careful not to park anywhere where I will need to back out.

you short people might want to look at lowering bones or short seats...
and platform boots (with an offset shifter) might help too

Only green riders feel the need to flatfoot. As long as I can get it upright and fold the kickstand up, I can ride the bike.

The local HD Dealership was doing test drives a few months bike... I wanted to ride the Ulysses, but I couldn't reach kickstand.

Also, I just learned how to do the kickstand pivot. Forget backing up, I'll just tilt the bike over and spin it around! It's quite amusing to see peoples reactions when they see a scrawny short guy "pick" up his bike and spin it 180.
