 |  My first weekend trip
Well, I have started planning my first long weekend trip. I am taking a Michigan motorcycle ride over memorial day weekend. I am just trying to get some items straight in my head for the ride. I have been having an issue with the bike running rich lately and next week it is gonna get a jet kit and get the air fuel ratio straightened out. this will give me two weeks of ride time to ensure the bike is good as gold before the trip. I booked the campsites this morning and actually had to reserve the first leg for thursday and friday. that's ok because I have Thursday off too. I can go early and set the tents up! If anyone has any pointers, throw them out. I am making envelopes for each day like I heard about on here before. I have detailed maps printed off, our reservation numbers for the campsites, campsites telephone numbers, and will be carrying an atlas with us as well. I have a tank bag that all this is going into, along with my toolkit. I will be packing all the luggage on the bike and double checking everything to make sure it is loaded evenly and secure. Total Miles: 740 miles Total days: Friday night until monday late afternoon. Myself, Mallory(the Gf), Mallory's sister (Nicole) and her boyfriend (Justin) are going. We are going to tent and sleeping bag it. Friday night :The plan is to ride north to East Tawas (east coast) on Friday night to get us a bit north before night falls. set up tents and find a lake side pub to go to for the night. Saturday AM: pack up and head from East Tawas over to the west coast at Traverse City. This should be a decent ride. Mind you I am trying to do all back roads. We are going to grab some lunch in Traverse City and check out the Sleeping bear Dunes/ Manitou Islands. Maybe a few other things there. Saturday PM: Head down the west coast to Manistee, catch some light houses and get there around dinner time. Grab some grub, set up our tents and relax, or go to the beach. shower. Sunday: Pack up and head out. Ride further south through Ludington to South Haven. Visit a few light houses on the way. the ride will take around 4 hours or so. I plan on getting there around 3, get the tent set up and spend all day on the beach! shower. Find some nice nightlife later on. Monday AM: Head out on the longest leg of the journey yet. the leg home. Head east through backwoods territory and pass through Hell, MI. Ride north to Mal's house and crash at her parents campground just a few minutes from her house. I think this should be a good trip, Just need to find a few items yet Stuff: Small, packable tent one sleeping bag ziplock bag with toothbrush, deoderant, soap, travel size shampoo swim suit and changes of boxers/socks/jersey T-shirts toolbag with tools, zipties, knife, WD, and duct tape. phone charger (need this as my alarm clock. I won't answer a single call) Maps w/ reservation numbers sunscreen garbages bags to keep things dry if it rains rain gear camera edit: fast curing epoxy mag-light fuses Pillow! I can't think of anything else for the time being... **maps to be inserted later tonight** |
