| Like Wow! Was that imaged using MRI techniques? I read the how did we photo it thingy, still can't figure out how it was actually imaged. Very interesting...

| You're seeing residual heat from the bottom, I think. The combustion cloud grows out from the spark. Just think... that happens up to 8000 times a minute on some streetbikes.

| ... ![]() | ya, i was just wondering if that was a specially designed set-up that only compressed the mixture and let it burn in a reduced chamber volume, since i don't see the 'piston' moving down at all (and it should be considering how quickly it came up - the dwell times are really short in real life). anyhoo, cool to see the flame flowing like that! |
