Like Wow!

Was that imaged using MRI techniques?

I read the how did we photo it thingy, still can't figure out how it was actually imaged.

Very interesting...

i don't get it. is that just the combustion before the piston begins the power stroke, or what? what the heck is that 'thing' moving up from the bottom? it seems to already have a small flame front on it as well.

You're seeing residual heat from the bottom, I think. The combustion cloud grows out from the spark.

Just think... that happens up to 8000 times a minute on some streetbikes.

ya, i was just wondering if that was a specially designed set-up that only compressed the mixture and let it burn in a reduced chamber volume, since i don't see the 'piston' moving down at all (and it should be considering how quickly it came up - the dwell times are really short in real life).

anyhoo, cool to see the flame flowing like that!

and RIGHT between your knees, too!

and SOME gentlemen, one of which i shall leave nameless, are afraid of putting a quart of fuel in an approved container in the saddlebag...

Don't we all have a gallon of fuel in an approved container in our reserve tanks?
