kept the sig at 150pix high, just as "directed" by RowdyRodneyPiper!
couldn't figure out how to make the text (right side) stay within that space if i were to stop the IMG at "IRTFM!", so now the whole damned thing is a JPG.

for you and you alone, no sig in this post!

I couldn't understand most of what you said. Not a computer guy.

I do love the Snell approved fruit helmet though.

We have some table code available, so I can fix it if you like, Greg. It's 135K right now. Kinda defeats the point of the suggested size. Plus, you're gonna get complaints from the tiny-monitor contingent. I tried a 700 px wide image and got flak.

if you can tell me how to code it, i can lop off the JPG just after the IRTFM to make the JPG smaller to separate the text, and can then prolly knock the quality down to 70 or 80 [it's at 100 now] since i don't need to worry about text

anyhoo, ya, PM or post up the code i should use to keep some lines of text on the right side in that sort of layout (roughly). i'll see if the JPG at 50k file size is still decent looking.

thx!

OK, I'll give a serious answer to this thread. I'm an admin over at Electrical Knowledge Home Page and we had the spamming big time. 98% of it was stopped when we had them confirm their registration with a return e-mail. Bad part was each time anyone registered it had to be confirmed by hand which is a big pain but it is easy to pick out the bad ones that do take the time to confirm.
We still get the Nigerian spammers every now and then but it is only one a month or so. We are using Snitz software and the confirmation process was implemented by checking a box. I'm sure it cost us a few members but we are not in a numbers race with anyone so it doesn't mater.
Jim

I honestly didn't think the forum was getting all that many.

When I see them I report them...but I don't see them everyday.

We don't get much spam at all compared to last year. One or two a day.
