Default what do you like most about riding

I searched and didn't find any thread that matches this.
I am curious what do all of us like most about riding. My father-in-law is into the initial thrust and 0 to 90. It seems the sport bike riders are into the twisties. I myself just like the feeling of being in the experience. When riding on the backroads you feel apart of the scenery not like you're viewing it in a tv. I am not a speed freak and actually rarely make it over the posted speed. I just enjoy the ride. So what do the rest of you like is it the speed the adrenaline the cornering the g-force when get into.
Hope this isn't an old topic and I can't wait to here from all of you.

well, since i've only been riding for two weeks, i haven't explored TOO much, but what i do like is being in the open, getting the fresh air, being able to move around a bit rather than sitting in a seat as if it's a chair at home (which is what some cars feel like). i like feeling that i'm part of whatever it is i'm riding through.

the performance of the bike is nice, and feeling it for the sake of feeling it is cool, but it's only a small bit of what i myself find enjoyable.

it's also quick and easy to get on or off, to walk away from the machine to check out this or that, easy to park just about anywhere. just makes me feel more 'free'.

Riding allows me to pay attention and to stay calm in traffic.
It's so easy to pull into a parking lot or other safe place to rest or kick down for a second if things get complex.

I do stop and pull off a lot more on the bike...

In the truck I have to constantly throttle myself, and keep the windows up so I won't use my big mouth to hurt other drivers feelings...

The adventure.

Every ride is a completely different experience.

Thumbs up

Honestly?

Riding to work in the HOV lane at 60-80mph by myself everyday. This results in my commute time being half what it was when I rode the bus. I come and go from work when I please, and park for $9/month (after work kicks in their bit) on the 'executive level' of the garage instead of $60 or $90 or whatever the car people are paying for non-executive parking.

There are a bunch of other things but that's the tops because I cash that puppy in every single weekday.

I really like riding now that I have the big Velcro patch on the tank. Now the wind doesn't close the cover on my laptop nearly as much. It's cool to be able to watch Youtube or go on to Myspace on those long boring rides.

For me it would be easier to answer what I don't like about riding? The answer is not being able to ride.

I like that it's so much like flying. I can't fly any more because of the expense, so this is my substitute.

I dig the chicks. My wife hasn't joined up yet so I can still say that.

It's because I look so good in chaps. Or at least that's what the wife says. She wouldn't lie to me... would she?

Seriously, I like the whole experience. Except for the inattentive cagers.

Good answers, Blade and Red especially.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Other than good sex (and it'd better be some DAMNED good sex) . . . there is no feeling in the world like banking a sportbike into a corner at speed.

The sound of the engine when riding in the country and with no one around. You feel a beautiful kind of loneliness.

I guess the best thing for me, is the fact that no two rides are ever the same. Even my 4 mile ride to work that I've done thousands of times always has something that's different about it.

People in cages spend thousands of dollars every year to go someplace they have never experienced before, I get to do that every time I ride.

Driving around in a car with it's air conditioning, dual heat zones, and sound proofing, well looking at scenery isn't much better than watching TV, or setting in front of the computer. All that comfort seem to disconnect me from my surroundings. Sure it's nice to get someplace (in the cage) and be all rested, but driving a car is all about getting there.

Riding a motorcycle isn't about the destination, it's about the RIDE!!.

I like becoming an extension of the machine. Refining your skills and techniques more and more with each ride. The mountain air, the open scenery...

And of course, the speed and the danger, and knowing that only you can keep yourself alive.

Smartass Answer: 'Cause I look AWESOME in black leather!

Honest answer: I enjoy many aspects of the ride
- the solitude (no radio, phone or other distractions),
- being closer to nature (feeling the wind, smelling springtime, seeing the mountains/trees/flowers),
- the challenge (technical riding - taking each curve correctly and safely)
- the acceleration (0 to 60mph faster than ANY car)
- the fun of riding
- the friends I've met through forums
