| Hi everybody. I'm a pretty new rider and am looking to get a textile jacket for upper body protection. I really like the Joe Rocket Alter Ego 2.0, but am curious what the right fit is for a motorcycle jacket. In my case, I could wear either an XL or XXL, with the XL being snug and the XXL being more like a regular jacket I would get -- slightly loose in the chest and around the waist. Any ideas? Thanks a ton |

| Yup. They're designed to fit snugly while you're in the riding position. If you want a jacket that looks cool at the bar, get something else.

Yeah, a riding jacket should be snug and comfortable in the RIDING position, it will NOT be very comforatble just standing there. If it is, guess what it was designed to do? | |

| try it on with and without the liner with whatever you plan to wear under the jacket to make sure it still fits in all configurations.

I have a Tour Master jacket that has adjustments at the wrists, forearms, biceps and waist. That way you can adjust the fit depending on what liners you have zipped into the coat.

| Why would you do that, after all the above advice?

I was told by the person at Joe Rocket that if I did get the size I would wear it would fit very tightly and for not being at the track with it the one size larger is better. I saw his question, so I added what I had found. Sincerely,

| My first riding jacket I bought a little loose and I regreted it when I went down. The pads moved off the elbow allowing me to get Road Rash there. The new one is snug. BTW the wreck was in June and I still have issues with the rashed area on my elbow.

| So you're talking about sizes and not fit, right Jammer? Size means nothing to me. There's no consistency across manufacturers. It's funny what people say about the track, though. It's the safest possible place to ride. If I was forced to ride naked somewhere, it'd be there.

I agree on the track on safeness. More specifically about the track and what I was told. They fit tight so as if you go down the padding stays where it is suppose to and doesn't shift around. That's all. Sincerely,

| ... ![]() | for me, my jacket is snug when i wear a t-shirt and a long-sleeve semi-tight shirt. i assume your hoodie is thick ad kinda oversize, so using that to gauge if a motorbike jacket is snug wouldn't be a good idea. stick with the 2-3 "t-shirt" gauge for snugness.

| Go to your local dealer and try some of their jackets out, different manufacturers will probably have different fits. If you can find Joe Rocket jackets to try the better, especially if you will be ordering from an on-line store. That being said, I'm waiting for my jacket to arrive that I won on ebay and I hope it fits.

+42 seriously, when someone asks me what size shoes i wear, i say "anywhere from 11 to 13" because that's how it is! diff manufacturers make things just a bit differently, so the final size is gonna vary by a bit. my hiking boots are 13, my running shoes are 11.5 i think, my dress shoes are 12, my ESD / safety shoes are 11 i think, etc. it's all over the freakin' place. motorbike shoes are 12, though.
