Angry I laid it down, this weekend!

My wife and I were capitalizing on a great, sunny, 75 degrees, and a beautiful weekend for a ride. I road my bike Saturday and it ran top notch, no issues at all by myself and with my friends. Sunday I got up and my bike would hardly start, after it was started seemed to run a little sluggish. Not quite right for some reason, we road for a while without an issue then stopped to get some ice cream. When we went to leave the bike started to act funny again. So I said to my wife, “We need to get home the bike is not acting right”.

As I pulled out of the parking lot, I began at an incline and leaned the bike into a slight turn. Then all of a sudden the bike shut down, in the middle of accelerating. I lost momentum and the bike fell to the right, my wife rolled off on to the pavement and I took a bit of a fall. She landed on her wrist. I got up and check if she was ok, and then looked at my bike. I picked it up and got over to the shoulder of the road, and we inspected each other for damage.

We both wore our full ridding gear and the injuries sustained were minor, she had a bruise on her wrist, but it’s a good thing she had the gloves on. She probably would have scathed up her whole hand. I came off with a ruined pair of jeans; the gear took all the punishment. Did not hit the helmet and the armored jackets had no signs of being touched. I’m fine; the bike only took minor damage. The brake lever broke and I had a couple of scratches on the exhaust pipe.

I was able to get the bike started and get it home. I plan on fixing the lever and taking the bike in the shop and have it looked over. All in all, we were lucky and goes to show how important gear is to even the most minor of incidents.

Your not suppose to be riding and eating ice cream at the same time. It gets your controls all sticky

Glad to hear you and the wife came out ok.

Yes, I am also glad that you're ok. After you get the bike back from the shop I hope that you can tell us what the problem was.

I just had the carbs rebuilt by them not to long ago, and the bike has left me stranded twice. I took it back to them every time and they say they perform some adjustments and hand it back to me. I haven’t pressed the issue because it's been about 2 months since the last time it failed, I figured it was fixed.

I'm going to be on them like white one rice, a glass milk, on a paper plate, in a snow storm after what happened this weekend.

SpeedCostsMoney: "I had to get these stitches because of your mechanics."
Shop Owner, examining stitches: "WTF? There's not even a cut there."

Glad your OK!

Kind of sounds like you have a float that's sticking in a carburetor.

I was thinking also you might want to have your carb checked out.

Glad you came out all right. Kudos for having your gear on.

BTW, that's "tipped over", not "laid down". You had me really worried.

Well when you eat too much Ice Cream you change the CG of the bike making it top heavy causing it to Tip over.

Glad your ok.

"Tipped over", is a better way to describe it. Still sucked!

As stated already, good to hear you came through it in fairly good shape. Just curious...How's the wife dealing with the reality of getting tossed? Is her head still in the game?

Why do you say both of you was wearing full gear, and later you said your jeans took a beating. Hmm, didn't know jeans was included in the word gear
