Default Cheap and easy 12VDC outlet

I stumbled on this by accident, but it’s cheap, easy, clean looking and removable.

I purchased this Black and Decker battery maintainer at Wal-Mart for the winter. It was approx $12 - $15 bucks.

It comes with a 2 pin flat connector and the other end can be installed on the battery terminals and left on the bike. It's just long enough to poke out from under the seat if you want it to, or you can hide it if you aren't using it.

Yesterday I was at Wal-Mart poking around in the automotive, thinking about adding a 12VDC socket to the bike so I could charge my cell on longer trips. Right before my eyes was a nice "outdoor" looking add on outlet with about a 6 inch cord and this exact type of 2 pin flat connector on it. It's made to add an outlet on the rear of trucks connecting to the trailer wire harness. It was only $3.50 so I bought and and tried it out. It's perfect. It connects easily, the polarity is correct. and the combined cord length is perfect to come out along the side and rear of the driver seat and tuck the outlet under the strap on the passenger pad. I can charge whatever device I need to right out of my Bag on the back.

So on a day to day basis when I don't need an outlet I can dissconnect it and tuck the charger hookup under the seat. If I need it for a long trip it's like a 30 second fix.

I'll post a picture of it on the bike later.
