| I find that some are as arrogant as riders of other bikes and that a few give the type of bike a bad name with doing silly stunts on public streets (seems like Harley has been picked on -- so should sportbikes) |

| There is NOTHING wrong with sportbikes. Most are beautiful and artistic pieces of machinery. MAYBE, the title to this thread should be "What's wrong with sportbike riders?" no?

| LOL!! This should be a short thread. High performance and high value. What's not to like?

| Third gear and cruising ![]() | I don't like the feel of a sport. I hate the riders, yes blanket statement, anyone who rides a sport bike is a jackass on a crotch rocket IMHO. The MO for a crotch rocket rider is someone either 16-21 or 45-50 all on their first bike, they decide they want the biggest baddest thing on the road with no regard to the fact that they actually have to be able to control their new beast. They also seldom if ever follow the rules of the road, never give courtesy waves, etc. Give me a metric cruiser any day.

Guess I'm not the Norm then ......I don't fall in your age groups, this is my fifth bike with 21 years of riding , I have no problem with controlling a 160HP bike, never had a ticket ( so I guess I follow the rules )& I always wave ! | |

| Third gear and cruising ![]() | That's fine, I'm still entitled to my opinion. I think you're a jerk because you own a sport bike, either that or your kidding yourself and trying to act young by buying a bike with 160hp. Who are you showing off to? Are you compensating for something?

| Wow, I'm shocked! I think there are riders of every type of machine out there who are just plain stupid and careless. I see Corvette Drivers who carefully follow the rules of the road, and then I get someone in a hybrid following me so close I can't see the headlights. The biggest problem with sport bikes is the minority of the jerks get the majority of the press, just like with Cruiser riders. The person doing a wheelie at 120 that nails a car, or the cruiser riding drunk with no helmet or gear give us all a bad name. Maybe what we should have is a thread called... Whats up with the idiots out there that make all of us look bad!!!! It is all about the rider, not the ride! Just my two cents! The only problem with doing it that way is the two sides would just flame each other, just like usual! Wish it wasn't true, but those are the facts! |

So if someone is riding a Kawasaki Ninja 250, are they still a jerk because it's a sport bike? Is it the design of the bike or the HP that makes the person a jerk? What about riders of the Suzuki Boulevard M109? Not a sport bike, but not your average cruiser either.... Most sport bike riders will probably never race their machines on a track - but there are many that do. You can't (legally) test your skills and the bikes capabilities on public roads, but there is no denying that cruisers are limited in the twisties. I could probably drive my old TVR faster than I could ride my S50 on a twisty road - something about scraping the footpegs bothers me after a few turns. The blanket statement and your opinion is sure to offend - if that was your intent - but luckily most sensible sport bike riders wear a thick (one piece leather) skin!

| I hate crotch rockets. They are really hard to light and I always burn my balls. Now can we change the thread to "What's wrong with artistic_gore"? Anyone riding an RM250 should not even have an opinion of the street. Dirt Boy.

| Artistic Bore(oh excuse me, Gore) just in case you're interested, your over-the-top statements and combative attitude are a little out of place here. If you want people to take you seriously please dial down the invective and be reasonable. There are many sport-bike riders on these pages that are smart, careful, and skilled. Maybe you are right about some fools on sportbikes but to categorically denounce them all is a little, you know, nuts.

| Third gear and cruising ![]() | I am sorry my current bike doesn't please you. I have an elitist attitude because I took the time to learn about riding, I started on an 80 when I was 7 and have been riding ever since, I got a motor scooter when I was 14 so I could ride on the road and a suzuki GN250 when I was 16, I moved up to a honda 350, kawi 550 and honda cb750, then ended up with a yamaha XJ700X, got rid of that and have the RM250 for now. Jag offs that just jump on a bike and think they are hot stuff piss me off. This is categorical (again in my opinion) for sport bikes and is getting more regular in harleys. Sorry if this offends but it's my opinion which I believe was asked when a thread was opened referencing problems with sport bikes. Also did it take you the whole hour from my original post to think up the artistic bore comment or were you holding out for dramatic effect? I must say it's highly original, well thought out and perfectly executed.

| Sprocket Pilot ![]() | It's not the bike that is the problem, it's the rider of course. The bike stands still on its sidestand before a rider comes over and turns the ignition and goes for a ride. It has the potencial to do lots of harm, but once again, it is the riders fault, because he controls it.

| Third gear and cruising ![]() | Well there is the other half...besides I didn't come here to make friends. Like I said in my first post I am here to learn a little more about the latest addition to my stable. I'll keep my nose out of your perfect kingdom and focus my attention in the dirt-bike section. Sorry to have (artistic) bored you (gets me every time).
