Default I think I was just dissed

So I'm riding along and I see a fellow rider coming up behind me, on an HD. I come up to an intersection and stop behind a minivan. As I'm sitting there, the HD creaps up to the side of me and I'm thinking he's going to stop next to me, maybe chat a little. Well, he goes right past me, zips in front of me and doesn't even acknowledge that I am there.

When the light turns green, we continue on and I follow him for about one mile before he turns off. Was I supposed to be impressed?

look at it as being a snobbish rider --- not the type of bike

I agree with Intrudercruiser, he was terribly RUDE! I see it in all types of riders, though. It's the rider. Not ALL Hardly riders are bad!! lol

No, I didn't mean this as an indictment on the bike, but on the rider.

Thanks for letting me vent. Ride on.

Some folks consider it acceptable to share lanes when on a bike. Most don't, however. I consider it a compromise of my safety and therefore quite offensive.

The dumb a$$ thought you were on a HD too, and was going to talk to you, then he saw you were riding a metric, and he was embarrassed at his own ignorance, and decided that it would be cool just to dis you. Don't worry, all HD riders arn't like that......I'm sure not. of course I'd never pull up next to someone uninvited either.

As was said above, there's bad apples on all brands, he was just a jerk.

I ride a Harley and don't care what the other guy is riding. I just think its neat that you can go just about anywhere and find people to talk to. I didn't realize it would be a safety hazard to pull up beside someone at a light. I would have don't it just to chat. I don't care what you ride I just like to find people to hang with.

I wasn't the one that said it was a safety hazard, that was Clint (RowdyRed), I just think it's rude, if you wern't invited. To me the safety issue come in to play when the light turns green, and two riders are still trying to talk as they ride away.

That's too bad. Remember, there are plenty of other riders out there who will treat you a lot better. A couple months ago I was riding home after lowering, testing it out for the first time, when a local chopper builder pulled up in the next lane and we got to talking and rode with each other for a ways. I've had good experiences with HD riders, metric cruisers, sport and chopper riders.

Happens to me quite a bit. Even had one cut me off at an intersection. He came up behind me, splitting the lanes comes up on my right side with traffic going and turns left directly in front of me.

One thing I noticed riding here, most of the time when someone is riding solo, they ride in the middle of the lane and when another bike pulls up behind, they move to either the left or right as in a formation position. I only do that if I'm inviting someone to pull up on side of me. Otherwise it could be mistaken as an invitation. Try staying in the middle of your lane if you don't want them to pull up next to you. My 2 cents.

Thanks for the replies. Yea, I was in the middle of the lane at the light. That's one of the things that surprised me. And he didn't wait until we were moving to snake in front. He pulled up, zipped in front, and waited for the light to turn. And he definately was not in any hurry once we started moving.

I guess I just expected more from a fellow rider.

Merry Christmas.

I hear ya! What a jerk. I have ran into a few HD riders and even a few sport bike riders who think that if you aren't riding what they ride, you are scum. I guess there are all kinds that ride.
Merry Christmas to you too.

Don't ever expect that a fellow biker is any safer to ride with than a cager, unless you know the biker. Some can't handle their bike and do unsafe things as a result. Others are just plain stupid and unsafe - such as passing you on a curve. Always check your mirrors. . .

They're just mad because you're not riding their hideous, air-polluting bikes, that's all.

I've had the same sort of thing happen to me.
Once I was sitting in the center of the lane, waiting at a light. Then I hear a loud rev next to me and another sport bike had pulled up between me and the car next to me. I turned my head and nodded in acknowledgement, but was still kinda irked that the guy pulled up so close to me.
Of course, as soon as the light changed, he lit it up and shot out like he was running a race. I just shook my head and took of like I normally do.

On another squiddly note...
Last week I was cruising down the road and came to a stop behind a few cars waiting for a light. I was on the inside lane, and I could see another biker (think he was on a yamaha sport bike) waiting at the light coming the other direction.
Light changes. I'm waiting for cars to start moving, but I nod my head as the biker starts to pass by. Suddenly, I see him click down a couple of gears, rev the engine and pop a wheelie as he zooms right past me!
I could not help myself from laughing at how rediculous that rider was.
That has been the best example of a squid I have seen to date.

OK, the term "hideous" must be directed at a Harley's appearance, and that is a mater of personal preference. You have a right to your opinion. I don't agree with it, but that's fine, to each their own on what looks good.

But "air-polluting bikes"???? Are you suggesting that Harley's pollute more than Metric bikes do? If so, quote your source!

Fact of the mater is, the only reason Harley's put more pollutants in the air than other brands, is because there are more Harley's on the road than other brands.

If you habitually ride the center of your lane expect to repair flats more often. That's where the sharp objects that car tires miss live. The center of the lane is also where the majority of the lubricants and other fluids that escape auto engines ends up.

Just something to think about.
