Default Life Cycle of a Motorcycle Design

Hey all, quick question. New car designs typically hang around for 5 years with a slight "freshening up" somewhere around 2-3 years to make the vehicle look a LITTLE different and add some newer features. What is the life cycle of new motorcycles?

I've only been riding for a year and some change now, so that's not quite enough time to observe. It seems to me that bike designs are much more aggressive than car designs. They seem to get tired and look a little more out of date quicker than a car, especially when the other manufacturers are releasing new models. That leads me to wonder if the manufacturers don't cycle the model designs sooner, like new models every 3 years or so.

Thanks in advance.
