Default Going for a road trip. Should I take the bike?

I've decided, without, of course, telling my parents, that I'm going to go to Colorado next summer. I'm a new driver and a new rider, having done so for 10 and 2 months, respectively, and I really want to ride out to CO on my motorcycle.

The biggest ride I've ever done was about 300 miles in a day, which is what I'm planning to average this summer, if I spend some time in Sioux Falls, Deadwood, Cody, Jackson Hole, then spend a week or so in Vail, then ride back...some other way.

I expect to be gone for like, 2-2.5 weeks. Since I think I'll only have to pay for gas, <3 Starwood points, I should feasibly be able to do this.

Anyway, I was wondering if it was a good idea for an inexperienced rider to go out like that either on his own, or with a even less experienced buddy on a motorcycle (he's prolly gonna get a 650 of some sort; we're shopping). Should I take the car so I can drive with comfort and music and stuff, or should I go for the bike?
