Default Idiot driver gets did

Today coming home from work at 10:45, I was stopped at an intersection (major) and waiting for the light to change. All of a sudden, this guy comes blazing down the road and almost rear ends me... I gave it some gas (I always leave a buffer of space between me and the line) and moved up a little, just to get space. Of course, he moves up and closes the space. I always look back at the driver and make eye contact if I feel like my personal space has been violated. This a$$hole was yapping on his damn cell phone and not even looking at the road, he was fixing something on his radio or some crap. So the light turns green and I head across the intersection. This road is in Milltown, and any Jersey people know that if you're going to break the speed limit, Milltown is the last place you want to do it. So I'm doing about 22 in a 25, its a beautiful night, sitting in 4th gear just putting along. This guy is right on top of me, still on his phone, and I'm tryin to keep under the limit, normally id pull over and let him pass if its not good enough for him, but there really isn't anywhere to go for the first mile or so of this road. Then, as I'm riding, a cop shows its face out of the cross street. I'm still going about 22-24mph and crusing. He pulled out after we passed, and he pulled into the next cross street. He must have turned around, because the next thing I know, lights are on and he's getting pulled over. It was the greatest thing. Here I was afraid that this idiot might do something dumb, and he gets in trouble for tailgating, and for talking on the cell phone. I'm in a good mood tonight now because of it, because I got pulled over for careless driving in an 88 I4 Wrangler a few years back, and the DA and Police captain made stuff up right there in court, and I lost. This kind of reassures me of the Milltown police force, but I'm glad to say that I am alive, still kickin', and I have the police to thank.

Sorry for my rant/praise, but the police have been letting me down lately, especially after hearing about all of the NYPD allegations in the news today.

Hmm... that's scary... a subjective hotline where individuals can phone in and anonymously or at least unverifiably tarnish the reputation of others. And I thought socialism was just contained to Canada.

Of course the police cannot be everywhere but it's nice to see that they were in the right place at the right time!

Kudos for keeping your cool!

Booyah! I may have gotten pretty hot after almost being mowed down like you were, but the best type of revenge is the type that occured in this instance.
