Default Holiday Ride

I figured since it was a beautiful day and a holiday weekend, the route to Tortilla Flats would be minimally congested, combined with the fact that I got a late start and hit the road around 1:30.

The roads were exceptionally free on the way up, but traffic in the opposing direction was quite heavy.

Up here, the only audible sounds are the ping-pang of my cooling engine, the gravel beneath my feet, and the cacophony of my own thoughts.

A few cruiser riders stopped where I was snapping photos and asked me to take their picture. I did, and asked them to do the same for me.

Upon my last trip to this place, I turned around at this sign. A street bike isn't designed for dirt roads, but today, I chose to give it a go anyway.

The road was half-paved for the first 8 miles or so, which was tolerable, even on tight turns like this.

...But the washboard-type terrain made for extremely slow going the rest of the way. Still, I chose to push forward.
