Yes

MSF is a great step. Street smarts are a must. Learning from friends would put you in a high risk class.
Rowdy has links to some reading material and videos.

There are other classes available to you as you gain experience, including
track time. In some cases an entire weekend of schooling on local tracks.

Most of us never ride beyond 50-60% of our bikes capability.
Very few use 90-95%.

We have several SV riders here.

Why is it that all the bike's im googling for this bike look totally differnt, seems like the pictures you posted has the bike more covered up which in my opinion looks better.

It's the SV650s... They come stock without fairings (like you see when you google)... but the dealerships have a fairing package that goes with the bike... runs around 300 bucks.

Check with Louis, you will see that he is saving bucks to buy the lower fairing.

Buying the bike is one thing, then comes BLING.
The add ons sometimes equal more than the cost of the bike.

Lower fairings $400-600
pipes $500-600
Aftermarket seat $600-700
Bars $150-200
Rims $1,000-2,000
Tires $600-1,000
Brakes $300-600
Custom paint job $1,000-10,000
Then there is the small stuff
Grips $50-150
Steel braided brake lines $150-250
Turn signals $70-200
LED's $50-200
Tank Bra $75
Bags- $50-500

Do not ever sit down and add up the cost of the Bling, it will blow your mind.
The bling on my friends bike was $10,000 which is more than I paid for my bike.

The limit is your self restriant
