| 100% Title Free ![]() | Seems like the weight savings would be negligible next to the difference in price. Anyone have any input?

| Muscle Biker ![]() | Unless I was racing, where every ounce counts, I wouldn't spend extra $$$ for something that will have a shorter service life.

| I'd agree with inspiron; the first owner of my bike (fz-1) put on aluminum front and rear sprockets. i bought the bike with 7000 miles on it so i'm assuming that he put them on rather early in the ownership, and when i went for an inspection, the dealer wouldnt let me leave without replacing them because teeth were missing all over the place (and i dont ride hard either). go for steel.

| 100% Title Free ![]() | Steel it is. I'll be wrenching this weekend. Also got Galfer rear pads & "wave" disc. New rear tire to be installed as well. And that's how I spent my security deposit refund.

| Kickstand Operator ![]() | on my last bike i had steel sprockets front & rear (the front would take more wear and tear so would have to be steel even if the rear was alu), i had the chain i bought the bike with for 17kkm (plus however long the previous owner put on them) before i replaced them all due to excessive tight spots on the chain. the new ones were not even 1/8 the way through their wear and had notched up 8kkm by the time i sold the bike. I need to get a new chain and sprockets on my new bike within the next few months..
