Default What i got up to Yesterday

Every year the Australian pink ribbon foundation organises an awareness and fundraising rally/ride within each state to raise funds for the breast cancer foundation. I was one of 1100 attendee's at the NSW rally on Sunday. They managed to raise 30 thousand from the one event in NSW, im not sure what they've raised from the other rally's Australiawide as its still early, but they've certainly set an attendance record with this years effort.

Some of the pictures i took are attached below.

I agree...hats off to you for supporting something very important to so many.

On a side note...looks like great riding weather there...it's nice to see leaves on the trees still. Over here, everything has already changed & all the leaves are just about down...Brrrr!

As for those shots of the furry pink helmet and a few of those others with all that crap on their bike....Ewww! I'd be way too embarrassed to ride with all that...or I'd just be laughing the whole way...one or the other.

Yours looks good though.

Cheers, Whenever i think of things like this, i think of my girlfriend, and how horrible it would be for something like this to happen to her. Hence my motivation to start getting into this stuff.

R.e. the leaves though... mind you, im on the other side of the world and were in the middle of spring as opposed to winter , so it SHOULD start looking nice.

It was about 27-28'c (78-84'F) with very little wind when we started, and by the time we hit the second rallypoint it had dropped maybe 3-4 degrees max with the clouds, though it was cooler when it was raining though.

oh and r.e. the machines, some were rediculously done up and would have issues over 40km/h unless the "decorations" were taken off. There was a feather or balloon every few hundred meters along the route fromm crap dislodging itself from the bikes.

One thing to remember about getting so gung ho into dressing up like this, the australian temperament is to give things a go, have a heap of fun and to be outrageously silly if given sufficient excuse. Hence seeing some guys who were in some chopper and harley clubs going nuts with over decorating their rides. I got a couple of questions asked of me when i came into work Monday night as to why i had a pink ribbon on my bike, they were all "ooooh ok thats a good cause, i wouldnt do it though" when i told them and showed the photos.

The "Austrailian Temperament" sounds like a good way to live to me.

seriously though, pop onto some australian based forums and you can see a noticeable difference in the way a lot of them operate compared to ones based elsewhere.

And agreed, i'd not have it any other way (australias attitude that is)
