Default New to this Forum

I am new to this forum but not new to forums in general or the incredible information that can be found in forums. I can say without a doubt that i have saved thousands of dollars with the information that i get from forums. There is no better tool to reach people who have very intricate knowledge of these subjects.

Anyways, I am from the metro-Detroit area of Michigan and ride an '83 Honda Magna v45. This is my first bike and will eventually get something else once the checking account allows. I was thinking of the new Vstar 1300 tourer. I prefer the cruiser style of bike but may consider a sport touring, not sure yet. I have a few years to decide so i will definately call on the collective knowledge of this forum to make a more informed decision.

Bah....

Screw it! Keep the ride ya got!!! It's a cruiser with WAY more technology stuffed into it than anything sold today! That V-45 will probably whip the pants off of the Yammie!!! Why I bet the damn thing (Magna) even has a gas gauge too!!! Doesn't it??

Serious Bob! Welcome to the Forums. That's a nice bike you are riding! It's from an era that came before the guys in Japan realized they gave us unsophisticated Americans TOO much bike (read as .....could do it all!), and had to dumb their products down before we'd line up like sheeple and pay more money for less bike because it looked and sounded like a Harley.

Welcome to the forum Bob.
Just to add to the testimonials...a workmate of mine has a mid 80's v45 as well. He's kept it in mint condition. This summer he decided a color change was in order. Decided to go with a gold base overlayed with red. Beautiful! You can't see any gold at all until the sun hits it and gives an awesome effect.
So much for the old saying "Once you go black, you never go back".

As stated, great bike. Don't be lured with the idea that you're shortchanging yourself. All the best..

oh and thanks for all the welcomes. I am pretty happy with my bike, just like to get something newer. Keeping a 23 year old bike takes time out of my riding. Now if I had two bikes......

Hey, I was at work and at the mercy of the radio reports. I'll take 17cel in a heartbeat though.
