Default Hi All, from Oldgoat

Please allow me to introduce myself. I have been Oldgoat on many m/c forums over the years & brought my name over to here.
Just bought my first ever cruiser, a 2006 Suzuki M50. Must have had at least 20 bikes since 1958. The last few were an '00 V-Max, '04 DL1000 V-Strom & an '06 Burgman 650 Exec.
I only had the Burgman for 2 months But the wife & I agreed it had to go.
Did a straight exchange for the '06 M50 so unfortunately lost a bundle in doing so
I had never ridden a cruiser before. The dealer would not let me try the blue M50 in the showroom as it was new with 0 miles. He did have an '04 Marauder 1600 he said I could try. I started it up, snicked it into 1st & slowly let the clutch out. HELP!! There was nowhere to put my feet (or so it seemed). I stopped there & then! Was determined not to be a wimp, so tried again. Once I was rolling I managed to get my feet where they were supposed to go. Away I went. Was out for about 30 mins in the countryside. Got the hang of feet forward but did not really want a monster like the 1600, so bought a new M50 (black) that he had still in its crate.
500kms on it so far & I really like it. Have got used to the feet thingy & love the rumble it makes. It may not be the most powerful cruiser out there but plenty of power & torque for me.
I was in iminent danger of losing my license with the V-Max & again with the big Strom. Hope it is safe with this M50.
So far it is all a plus. We'll see how it goes.

BTW: I'm 67, retired, married, 2 daughters & 1 granddaughter & having a ball

Cheers from oldgoat
