Frankly, full helmets look dumb. I wear a half helmet, but when I get money, I'm going for a full face one for safety. Will I wear it? Yeah, probably. Will I like it? Nope.

You prefer to wear a bowl with a chin strap? Haha, I've never heard of anyone thinking a Half helmet looks better than a full face.

When I fell back in June I'd have lost half my face if I had been wearing my half shell insted of the full face.

And CC it isn't about dying it about what is left if you don't die. Can you imagine living through having one whole side of your face ripped off or worse what if you face plant going 60. There are much worse things then dying.

This above quote is the correct one IMO.

I'd rather look "dumb" wearing my full face helmet, leather jacket, gloves, heavy allweather pants over my regular pants, etc...knowing full well...I'll get the chance to look just as foolish tomorrow too.

I'm content to have a comfortable, safe riding experience each and every freaking time I sit on my bike. I had no idea I was such a rebel!

Come and bask in my individuality.

I would ask the managers opinion of it. That way if you do say something you will know what your managements position is on it. But yeah,, the responsibility of the bar thing would be a strong point to make. It is bad enough that people drink and drive. But those guys leaving on a bike is an even higher risk of something happening and you guys could be held accountable.

THANKS for bringing this thread back on track STP.
I was sure we were headed for another 10-page helmet debate!
Oh well, it makes for good reading every time.

I make a strong effort to at least ask if someone is okay to drive if I suspect they might be in an unsafe condition. Heck, the bar I work for even PAYS for your taxi cab if you need one. Strangely enough, most people opt not to take the free taxi.

Yep,,, that is a shame. I guess if I had my bike there and I had been drinking I wouldn't want to leave my bike either. But that is a "If". I wouldn't be at a bar getting sloshed and then riding. If I was to drink it would be a two drink maximum and then a long hangout period.

Know what looks dumber than a full-face helmet?

A face without a jaw!!!

Get one with a tinted visor and it's downright evil looking.

Do you know how many people suffer head injuries from automobile accidents? I dare to say more than motorcycle accidents just because of the higher numbers all the way around. Why don't people wear helmets in there automobiles? Race car drivers do. And we can all agree that race car drivers are far safer drivers than the majority of automobile drivers out there. No?

No defeatism at all brother! We are all going to go one day wheather you are ready or not. The time and place are not in our hands.
I might actually think that you believe that if you had said in your original post that you didn't wear a helmet or any other protective gear at all. The fact that you do wear a helmet and gear tells me that you think that you actually can delay your 'time to go' by taking a few precautions, not to mention reducing your 'time to be severly injured but not dead.'

I don't really care one way or the other what people wear when they ride, but I thought it was funny that you said you don't wear a full-faced helmet because when it's your time to go, it's your time to go and yet you do wear a half-helmet and protective gear

I'll tell you what I didn't say in that post. I wear a half helmet because I perfer riding in a half helmet then a full face helmet. But I did say it was my personal perference. I didn't say that I ride in a half helmet BECAUSE when it is my time to go, it is my time to go. READ MY ORIGINAL POST AGAIN. It is not as you suggested. Atleast get it right if you are going to quote me.

You crack me up trying to analize what I said like you know me better then I know myself.

My point is if it is your time to go, it doesn't matter what type or brand of helmet you have on. You could get your neck snaped like a twig with any type helmet you have on. You just don't know what is going to happen to you in a wreck. I'm fully aware of the differences of the two types of helmets and I know the risk. If you enjoy riding in a full face helmet, kudos to you. I personally perfer the comfort of a half helmet over a full face helmet and I do ware a full face helmet when it gets below 38 degrees and I ride to work. Back to my original post. Don't knock someone because they do something different they you do. I'm responsibile for my own actions. I spent 6 years in a very active volunteer fire department and seen {don't override the profanity filter} that most people will never see in their life. I don't live for what if's, I keep the what if's in back my mind, but I don't let the what if's run my life.

I was talking to an old timer the other day who said "If you ride long enough, it's not a matter of if you have a wreck, it's a matter of when you'll have a wreck. I believe him! Like I said before, I'm more comfortable and perfer riding in a half helmet.

Edit: Added text because I ran out of time before my dinner meeting when I started my response.
