| Need some advice on the best half-shell helmet in terms of wind noise and comfort. Wind noise protection is particularly important, so I am not at all interested in helmets that leave the ear open. Cheap would be nice, but not at the expense of the other two factors. Personal experience and comparisons would be greatly appreciated. p.s. I wear a sm/med in Arai Quantum and/or RX7RR, with the Quantum being the more snug of the 2 (just to give you an idea of the size of my melon for relative fit). |

| I think you're talking about a 3/4 or open face helmet. Half-shells have no ear covering.

| Some 1/2 helmets have a zipoff wind curtain. Provides some wind protection and warmth. HJC CL 2 is a model I have, but prefer 3/4 AFX77 with faceshield. I have used a HJC CL5 3/4 and it was a good helmet, did its job when I went down. A full face is best, have had several but broke my glasses so many times and never found a modular I felt good in. I tried on the AFX77 and it fit me good, has removable pads. The only thing I would like, is the addition of a VSP second visor like Nolan has. I have not had a chance to try as not sold here. Every head is different so it is important to try till you find one that fits right for you. |

| Bird's Accident - September 2 2006 Look at this dude and his accident- he was wearing a half helmet- warning- graphic! It is work safe at my work, but the injuries are rather graphic! Wear a full face helmet and all your gear you can afford and have. |
