Wow, beautiful view and twisties!! Just want to jump into the photos to join the riding. The dead trees reminded me of a part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Thanks for sharing.

I am so jealous that you get to ride these places...and your bike looks really nice in front of that blue lake.

It seems like you had gorgeous weather too!

Thanks for sharing!!!!

A 12 hour round trip to the Japan South Alps for no pictures

June 30th (in the middle of the monsoon)
Precip. chance 0% in the morning 30% in the afternoon. Checked the live-camera and left home at 5:45 AM to reach there by 10 to shoot some pics of the Alps for a panorama photo. When I got there the skies didn't look good already. After running 10 miles or so to the spot where I should view the mountains it started raining. Decided not to go any further and go home. About 2 hours later started raining cats and dogs, the road was submerged to the degree that I could barely continue riding. Oh my God, to get home I have to take the twisties that they close if it rains over the limit ................. Finally got home safely. Will ride to there again after the monsoon.

The view should be like this only without this much of the snow.

Default A new favorite road

Friends have been telling me that I needed to ride through a little town called Glenhaven for quite awhile now. What a neat little town (emphasis on little )
and what an awesome road to get there! There is a little general store there that sells the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. (And I've had a lot of them )

Here are a few pics:

Perfect weather! It's really hard to take a bad photo in these places. Make sure your camera is level and shoot. There is so much beautiful scenery. It's also really dangerous as there are virtually no guardrails or shoulders on the roads. In fact they just today found two people that have been missing 3 weeks down by Portland. They went off a curvy busy highway in their car and slid down only about 15 ft into the brush. No one seen it and you couldn't see the car from the road. An airplane spotted the car. (They died) Some of the places I ride are very desolate the drop offs are 100 to a couple thousand feet, you go off alone and may never be found. But, I guess that is part of the thrill.

Toyo,I am disappointed...you had the perfect opportunity.
About 2 hours later started raining cats and dogs
I would have loved to see THAT! In fact I would have paid to see it!
I assume the dogs don't, but do the cats still land on their feet when they are raining down? Glad you got home safely, too bad no photos though. The South Alps look awesome! Will be waiting to see those in the future!
Mike

Here are a few pics:
Scott, VERY nice photos! 5th image is just like the road near the Yatsugatake mountains except the speed limit sign and you ride on the wrong (right) side.

Mike, thanks! The heavy rain has given me another chance to ride there again. Oh, cats land on their feet all the time, I've tested

Nope, I am too tender-hearted to throw cats. However, I can throw a rude person into ウンチの池
