Just another rich jerk who thinks he's above everyone else just because his antics are regularly televised.

I've watched the Biker Builds and OCC shows and I wonder what are they promoting? Other than cheap programming. I will admitt that some of the builders are very talented, then there are some that are just "junk yard dogs." You decide which.

I like watching the motorcycle shows on Discovery (American Chopper, Biker Build Off, etc) but I feel that these guys give us a bad rep. They ride dangerously on public highways, they don't wear safety equipment or they wear substandard safety equipment, and they obviously don't keep an eye out for other riders. One would think that bike builders, of all other people, would keep their eyes open for other bikes while in a cage.

Maybe this will open up their eyes. I'd love to see Paul Sr test riding a bike with leathers and a full face bucket, but unfortunately it's never gonna happen.

You wont get flamed here !

I passed by his shop a couple of weeks ago and the two vehicles that Chrysler gave him were parked outside. One was the biggest Ram truck that they make, I wonder if that was the one he was driving ?
He does have a party animal rep in and around Melbourne

"Lane's close friend Steven Casanova, a Melbourne attorney, was stunned to hear about the accident. Casanova said Lane is not your "typical biker." - Florida Today article

Is that a collective cheer I hear from all the "typical bikers" out there?

Can't say I've heard much positive about him as a person, been known to throw people out of his shop if they don't ride a harley, will pick and choose who he will sell one of his bikes to, and it's not unusual to wait 8-10 months for him to build one for a customer. He has a very bad reputation as a drinker and dabbler, as well as for his whoring around.

But he is a very talented builder, who's bikes work well and are very innovative. He's one of the old-shool builders, not using all the computers and multimillion dollar machines to fabricate his bikes OCC style. He's also not the type to forget to add a fuel petcock to a gas tank, or to build a battery compartment so small that you have to pound the battery into it - ala OCC style. The bikes he builds can actually ride the 1000 miles to an event after he builds them, which is surprising how many Biker Build-off ones can't. He has an engineering background, and has come up with some very interesting mods - like the hubless rear wheel. He has also brought some good interest to the Melbourne area due to his features and his shop. It's a shame to see that go to waste.

But bottom line, his obviously reckless driving killed an innocent person, and I really don't see the local authorities having any pressure to treat him any different based on his "celebrity". However, his look, reputation, and connections should keep him safe if and when he does time.

He has a reckless personality. You can see it in the way he works in his shop, and you can see it in the way he rides. This doesn’t surprise me at all. I feel bad for the family of the scooter rider. And yeah, SCREW BILLY LANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Except for the bike he built that had such a bad gas leak that it caught on fire in the middle of the trip.

Regardless of how well his bikes are built or recieved...what he did was a very stupid move...and he will now have to live with the results of his actions.

I feel sorry for "all" those involved.

Figures.

He had his head up is arse, crossing a double-yellow to pass two cars. And possibly drunk at the time.

This joker should go to jail, have licenses permanently revoked, and have his assets auctioned off in order to give at least some compensation to the family. Then Discovery should do a crossover special on him - Supermax Biker.

FYI

It is common in Florida not to bring DUI charges against someone for months. Why, has baffled me ever since I moved hear 10 years ago. Be Patience , hopefully justice will prevail.

We'll just have to see what the blood test says. I can’t believe it takes eight weeks. I know when I have one my doctors on the phone the next day.
