Kinda looks like the headlight off the M109.
It does look like a mean ride though.

Damn, gotta say I like it.

EFI, liquid cooled, belt drive, 5 gal tank under the seat, sharp lines, and even anti-blinged enough to make Sunny look at it.

Now I might have to play the lottery to see if I can afford to buy one.

Hmmm, looks too much like the mean streak- and doesn't have the cool parts of the street rod. If they put the street rod in those colors I would say it was a better deal than some of the other power cruisers.

Crap- edited: I meant the yamaha midnight warrior. Cheaper, air cooled for you V-twin lovers, USD forks, under 13k OTD. Record holder in drag racing for metric cruiser class. Tons of aftermarket support for HP- I think, overall, it is a better power cruiser- though the street rod has done a great job- it needs to have a night street rod!

I hear ya. HD is totally pissed about Victory. I went into the HD store the other week and the salesman was given the wife grief about owning a Kawi.

He asked well what does you husband ride....she said "A 2005 Hammer...you know the other American made Motorcycle"...silence ...crickets curping..the whole place was quiet.

Not knocking them..I personally like that bike makers are trying to compete.
Hey it makes the world much more enjoyable.
I still like the fact that I own one of a handful of Vic's in my city...let alone a Hammer.

Dont care for the headlight, exhaust, seat or the scoop on the radiator. Other than that it looks nice, reminds me of the Meanstreak.

My thoughts too. Looks like they copied the Warrior. They're both nice looking bikes.

It is not a bad looking ride to me. Wonder if that matte black is a pain in the booty to keep clean??? Do like the new Warrior and especially like the new V-Max better.

Speaking of the S/O women,,, me and "J" found a cool shop locally that ONLY works on older Jap bikes. He had a V-Max sitting out front that was his. "J" falls in love with this bike. She is like man I want to get one of those to ride. The dude at the shop says now that is a woman right there. He asks how long she has been riding,, she says wanting to learn...same thing crickets chirping and all,,then he politely says that is NOT the bike for her. She would be better off learning on the '81 GS650G we are planning on taking to him.

She is like why,,, he politely explains the facts of horsepower to weight and the fact that the V-Max is NEVER a beginners bike. He earned my future business right there.

Ya, gotta respect that salesmen!

I suggest, since she likes the vmax- a V30 magna, or V45 Sabre or magna- it will get her used to the cruiser style riding vs the 81 GS you mentioned- and they are dead nuts reliable bikes that are extremely good first bikes and extremely forgiving to newbs!

Well she really wants to fix the '81 up too. I told her lets just get it going and learn on it and my brother wants to learn too. But she wants to do a resto on the '81 but add a new paint scheme to it. It originally was that burgandy/brown color,, but she wants to paint it that burnt orange/rust color on those Chevy HHR's that are running around.

But she wants to learn on it and later when the bills get caught up she wants to get her a Honda Shadow. Women,, but those are good suggestions and something to ponder.

I was at a show in downtown Montréal a few weeks ago and Harley had a booth with a flat black modded version. It is a nice looking bike, but for the money I would think twice.

no kidding...I have heard that before back when I looked at a V-max. The guy asked how long I had been ridding. I said well my buddy taught me how to ride on a shadow and a v-max. He about swallowed his tongue. I restated that I would love to have the bike but I felt my new found knowledge was not enough for a bike so evil. He regained his composer.

Those that think the night rod looks great..yes it does look cool. But go sit on one. That was one of my determining factors. I think the bike sits to top heavy. That and the handle bars need to be changed out. Something a bit wider. It reminded me of a 25cent drug store pony ride.

Now it's going to sound like I'm hatin' on the bike, but Pete started it
Sitting on the bike did it for me too. It looks like a small bike, looking down at that narrow tank, and I too thought it was top heavy. It's not to my taste I guess, but that's why they make so many different styles of bikes ya know.

I agree with both of you.

Definitely a weird set up for me. Especially the Street Rod. No way I could ride with those mid-sets.
