Nope...just a red "X". BTW, in case anyone cares, my dog just farted.

You are right Rowdy, I would also rather see the habitual drunk drivers being nailed than this kid too.

I'm not sure where we disagree other than how to go about the educating. Why not try first to avoid the kid having to pay a big fine or end up in jail? If that doesn't work, there's always plan B.

Let's say you're driving down a regular main road... and you see someone swerving and driving rediculous in a car.... it seems the person is obviously drunk....

Do you A) Drive up next to them at a light and yell at them to get off the road, then go up to them (if they stop) and attempt to educate them on why alcohol and driving dont mix?
or B) Follow them from a safe distance while calling the Police to report their location so that they can safely pull them over?

Remember, they are not only endangering others, but also themselves. Your gonna save someone's life... even if it is their own.

Rowdy....

I see where you are coming from, and I don't necessarily agree that getting law enforcement involved automatically entails a fine. However, common sense does take precedent, and anybody that gets ticketed for being observed by law enforcement doing wheelies and excessive speed in a residential area deserves what they get. No mulligans.

On the flip side of the coin, I see your point. If a P.O. sees him being punky, but not out and out squiddish, he could follow him, or light him up, pull him over and explain how the cow eats the cabbage without ticketing him. Hopefully, that will teach him a lesson.

Again, in this day and age, one citizen informing another citizen of what is right and wrong, can end up in disaster. In our age of entitlement, bad behavior is our birthrights, and those that have the temerity to inform us that we are behaving badly be damned. Unpleasant things happen from time to time, just look at road rage incidents. That was my point originally.

Hardly a parallel comparison. A person can instantly stop acting stupid on a bike. They can't instantly stop being drunk.

FWIW, I don't think calling the sheriff was a bad idea. I just like to consider all the options. That's what public forum discussions are for, no?

Hey I agree, but at least if the offer is out there (and i doubt he take it anyway) he'll know how serious you are about the reckless endagerment of the public. Just a thought

Right on!

I don't really think that my reporting him is going to land him a ticket or a fine. The fact that nothing happened yet, and unless a Police Offices see's him doing it, I don't think that they will right a ticket. I have no doubt that they will give him a warning if they find him.

Teens are allowed to operate motor vehicles because the state believes them to be responsible enough. Speeding and acting like a squid on the open road may not get my blood boiling as much, but doing it in my neighborhood is crossing into my comfort zone. Endangering children is something I don't take lightly and I won't "give someone a chance" in this case. I am one of the people that have to go out to the scene where a child is killed and tell the parents their child is dead. It's a little different after you see the affects and a dead child.
Let's be clear on something here, we've jumped waaaay over board on this thing. Right now we're talking about some kid with more balls than brains, fact of the matter is, I had a GSXR750 when I was 19 and it was stupid, i did stupid stuff on it. But I had a woman in a parking lot come up to me and TELL me i was being reckless and that did more then any ticket ever did. And name ONE teenager that you know is responsible. They might be good kids, but they still haven't developed the appropriate decision making skills to put things in order some times.

Oh, and one more thing...I did 7 years as an EMT, and I attending crashes and hit and runs involving children.....so I also have a rough idea what I'm talking about.

Then again, it may do nothing at all... alot of teenagers nowadays just want to do whatever they are going to do and no one is gonna tell them any different.

He should not get any kind of "babied" or "soft" treatment. If he wants to ride an adult vehicle, he needs to take the responsibility of an adult, and be treated like one.

No one is saying he can't do wheelies... just not in a neighborhood street.... go somewhere else and do it.

First off, this is not an attact at your statement, I'm only stating my opinion.

I have to agree with Shea that when someone operates a vehicle they have to assume ALL the responsiblity that come with it regardless of their age. It is your responsibilty to know the laws and rules. If you don't then don't drive.

Getting off the topic for a bit. All too often you read or see on TV about how little Johnny was/is a good boy and he don't deserve to go to jail. Or you hear, He is just a kid. And that is usually after Little Johnny has killed or hurt someone. People need to take responsibility for their actions.

Hey I'm not flaming anybody, peoples opinions are their own and I will never dispute that. In fact a i agree with a lot of what you say Cajun.

I do, however, want everybody to know that too many of us have seen terrible things. Bare in mind, this isn't a retort to any of your posts Cajun...but referencing these accidents goes without saying, to bring them up in regards to children and beginning them with a statement that makes it sound that ANY of us would stand by while anybody endagered childrend is ludicrous.

Mitch,

Another thing you can try to do is keep a camcorder available if you hear him and record him going down the the street. Then turn that into the police.
